Man these things drop like a rock. My local dealer has a 2017 Disco Sport HSE with 17k miles on it listed for $27k. That has to be the worst depreciation I’ve ever seen. If that’s the case the 58% lease residual is a steal.
Honestly I’ve rarely seen anyone hack Land Rover deals aside from a few who managed to get Velars for low 600s. This seems better than average considering it’s a demo and you’re getting almost 20% off, good MF. Numbers look about as good as you could hope for Land Rover.
Etching fee is a joke, but most LR dealers will not budge on it (it’s pure dealer profit)… maybe ask them to reduce the selling price another $300 but keep the fee there, so they still get their money for it?
Even with the etching fee, this is a great deal for LR. Roll all those fees in, the MF is so low it’s not worth paying any of it upfront. Where did you accomplish this great deal? Would you be willing to share the deal sheet when you have it? I’m looking to get into a Discovery or Discovery Sport in August. Thanks!
Disco’s have always been terrible on resale, I remember when you had to go half of book value on them to safe on a trade in. We got to the point where if someone tried to trade them we wouldn’t even give them a number because they got so insulted we didn’t want to piss them off.
OP: I think you can do better. Remember the dealer has already pocketed the incentives and rebates at the time it was turned into a demo car.
I have the first year Discovery Sport HSE and have to say it has dropped like a boulder.
MSRP was $49K, now after 30K driving and 3 years later - it’s worth $28K.
Even though the dealer discounted the car by $5K (new), I am upside down and have to wait until the lease expires before I can turn her in.
Other manufacturers like Audi and Porsche do not overinflate their residuals and consequently can get out early or have positive equity where you can sell it to Carmax or dealers and pocket the money.
Land Rovers needs to be purchased unless you want to go the entire term for a lease!
Lol now that’s terrible! It’s too bad because I really like Land Rovers and would love to get an old Discovery or something, but no way I can foot the bill.
Re Window Etch: Yeah it’s one of those things that literally costs them like $10 to do and adds no real value. I would straight up say “Window etching? Really? I though this was a luxury brand and not some Ford dealer in rural Iowa”
