2018 Kia Optima plug in hybrid and 2018 Kia Soul Ev

Great information. Thank you for the assistance. I’ll look into the volt. Thanks.

There is a reason why kia only sold 17 optima phev and 18 kia soul ev in the entire country last month compared to 2k+ each for volt, clarity or prius prime. I suggest you do some more research on those 3 unless of course you want a tesla.

Unless you are absolutely positive about your charging capabilities and will not be traveling over 100 miles in one trip ever, the Soul EV is absolutely useless, especially when you are probably looking at real world range of 80 to 90 miles whenever the temperature falls out of a very limited window.

In NY you should be looking for at least 5k off sticker before incentives…

I have a 2017 Kia Optima PHEV, here are the reasons I picked it over Volt/Bolt/Clarity/Prius Prime:

I wanted 5 seats, that eliminates Prius and Volt. Prius is also ugly/smaller/cheaper interior.
Volt also had no rear headroom and a cheap interior.

Bolt had playschool interior and uncomfortable seats.

Clarity was ugly to me and my wife, no lumbar adjustment, NO VOLUME KNOB!
interior materials changed once you went to the back seat (door materials went from soft to hard).

Downsides for the Optima:
no fold down seats,
cargo only 10 vs normal 15 or so ( I have a crossover if I need go to Ikea or Home Depot)
29 EV miles works for me, my commute is 12 and i get to drive around in something resembling a normal sedan not a science experiment.
600 mile total range, Clarity can only go ~366 Miles.
