2018 Infiniti Q50 3.0T Luxe AWD 325/mth & 10K/yr. NY Metro Area - 1 more unit at $325

Ok before the Q50 , Infiniti used to make every car leather as a standard. (minus the early first gen g35 that has cloth seats in 2003) Now it order to get leather on the q50 you have to spend about 10k more over the base price. Not to mention certain trims cant have it added at all. Bose speaker system also used to come standard or maybe 800bucks over the base price with a small premium upgrade that almost every dealership carried as a standard base anyway. in 2014 bose was maybe a 700 dollar addon with the premium package. Now in 2018 you need the “sensory package” which is about several several thousand more, maybe extra 5-6k and you need all the packages before it just to have it equipped

If you followed the q50 forums over the years, you would read similar reliability complaints. And all I can do is base it off my personal experience.

Dont compare infiniti gauging to bmw either. BMW is the king of ala cart gauging. They are trying to charge folks 100dollars a year to use apples free car play. So please dont say BMW does this, so its ok for infiniti to do this. Infinitis whole shtick for several years were performance, luxury, reliability (cheaper then the germans.) Now they are selling $40-45k Sedans with vinyl seats. In 3 years on my brand new q50 several things broke ,the vinyl faux leather seats are horrendous, get to 140 degrees in the summer and burn your back like a metal seatbelt. Not to mention the whole electronic steering just takes away from the feel of a true performance sports car. If i wanted a soft ride, I would be driving a lexus

Boy, this thread got me worried about q50. I thought it was a solid sport luxury car.

I think this thread may help explain why there are so many accessible deals on them…

I had a 2013 G37 before I got my 2014 Q50 Sport. The G37 did drive better and felt like more of a drivers car but my 2014 was much nicer car overall. As others have said the transmission is the weakest part about the car, they haven’t changed it 7 years other than a few small refinements here and there.

The first year of the Q50 they did have a lot of problems with their infotainment and steering but they’ve been worked out by now. I have a 2017 Q60 now and the infotainment is much better than what I had in my 2014.

The Q50 gets a bad rep for no reason, its an amazing car at its price.

I agree my 2014 Q50 was nicer car on paper and fancier and more luxe. (All through my 42k MSRP q50 had vinyl seats, no memory seats, no driver assist, no electric telescoping steering wheel)
But from a driving experience I like the G35/G37/Qx50 experience then the Q50 with the poor thansmission and looser steering and softer ride suspension.
They took all the good driving componants of what made the G series so spectaular and had a cult like following and erased started fresh with a fancier interior. But like the previous post said, The driving is inferior to the previous generations

I agree with you, the G35, G37, and QX50 all drove better, even sounded better! I would argue that my Q50 sport was a bit better than a regular Q50 since it had the stiffer suspension and bigger brakes, but the G37 still drove better.

However, again, all cars in this segment have gotten soft. I test drove a 3 -series and was disappointed by the materials and the drive. And I felt like an old man driving the C-class even though it is super nice! I think for the price the Q is great and unbeatable.

That is exactly what I am thinking right now. I mean from my perspective, this car is a huge upgrade from what I drive right now so I am happy either way but it still worries me lol.

well, i drive a kia, but it has 100 more tech features than q50, even horsepower similar, but with 4 cyl turbo. it would cost me probably 55k to option q50 comparably and it would still be lacking some.

Ask an Infiniti dealer for an extended test drive if you’re worried. I’m sure they’d be happy to give you one overnight. I can almost guarantee you won’t be worried afterwards. As was already discussed, it’s not a C-Class interior and doesn’t have 3 Series handling, but it does a lot of things really well, including how it leases.

I get that some people really loved the G and the Q50 isn’t the G. But this is a new generation of sports sedans. People expect more from how the car rides and how the interior is designed (vinyl excluded). Most people aren’t Motor Trend enthusiasts who expect every car to be a Lotus.

It would be 46K after typical discounts and it would also have things no other car on the market would have, like DAS - which you may or may not like, but it’s still tech no one else has - and blind spot intervention. Does Kia have emergency braking in reverse? Distance control? Predictive collision warning?

Yes, luxury manufacturers charge for stuff mainstream brands have standard and sometimes are still behind the times, but let’s not act like the Q50 is a dinosaur.

i was talking about creature comforts like pano roof, cooled seats, heated in rear, nappa leather. etc. new kias have a lot more safety gadgets than mine, but i hear its a pain you always need to clean sensors, cameras.

wonder why we don’t see too many deals on maxima, which is better equipped and cheaper than the q50.

NIssan lease horrible. Unless its the rouge. I was looking at getting a murano with leather seats and a navigation. And it leases as much as a lexus NX in the 400s. Infinitis are cheaper to less then nissan, go figure

Altimas lease well too sometimes. Got one for my parents for $183 with $183 due at signing for a $26k car lol…

This post in concerning me on leasing a 2018 q50. Currently driving a 2013 g37 awd with bose… would u guys recommend the jump? was gonna get the 3.0t…

@Gaion22

Q50 is definitely an upgrade from a 5 year old G37. Q is more refined in every way and the 3.0T even though has 27 less horsepower feels equally as fast.

Also the fuel economy is better with the new engine.

What you might miss is the stiff steering feel, exhaust note and less body roll during cornering.

The Q however is more quiet and smooth compared to G.

I am on my 2nd Q50. I drove a 2014 Q50 premium for 39 months and didn’t have to fix anything but the tires before I returned my lease. It had some software updates early in its life but once it all got sorted out everything was smooth. I am amazed to hear people complaining about falling bits in interior and such as I had no such issues at all.

I currently drive a 17 premium and its equally good. The fuel economy in 3.0T is better than the 3.7 in 14-15 Qs and I feel the low end torque is much better now so feels much more peppy in city compared to the older engine.

All the Intouch software issues are now resolved and the system works as it should.

My biggest concern I have now with the Q50 is will it feel faster than the g37 on initial acceleration, how much better mpg will I see since I avg around 21mpg on the g37 on highway driving and is it the best sedan for price/performance+luxury?

You need to test drive it and see how it feels with acceleration.

I get 25 MPG on highway with some mixed driving. On longer trips with cruise on I have got 27-28 MPG.

I am on my 2nd one and wouldn’t have done it twice if I thought there were better options for the price.

They certainly were not blowing C-Class and 3 series loaners when I got my 2nd Q50 but if you compare to a brand new car it certainly is a good choice. You need to decide for yourself if its best for you as every opinion is going to differ from another.

I have a 2017 Q60 with the new 3.0T twin turbo engine, and ive had the G37 in the past, this feels better/faster. The new engines actually make more to the wheels the old VQ’s plus the extra torque is great!

Not to mention you can now easily throw a tune on it!
