$2700 down including 1st payment
$279 + tax
12k miles
Agreed to pay $8/month for oil change and tire rotation, which I figure will be once a year at most for me.
Internet manager Kevin is a straight shooter. Could have done a little better going out of county, but wanted one in green, which was pretty tough to find anywhere.
Incidentally, I considered driving up to Anaheim to buy the car at Hardin Honda, since they have the most aggressive deal online. However, there are definitely some additional fees that they are really cagey about when asked, and I never could get a straight answer. They quote $3400 down on their special, but the total upfront payment is around $4400, and I couldn’t get a breakdown of that $1000 out of them. I assume it may be the first payment, tax, and license, but that still shouldn’t amount to $1000. Moreover, they only had a black one, so I just decided to stay local.
Never drive to dealership until you get the quotes, numbers you need. In fact, once you get a quote from one dealership you should send to others and say the following in the email “I got this quote from XXX and I know you can match but can you beat?”. " If you can then please send best monthly using zip code 9xxxx". “Then I will fill out online finance form and send you a copy of my license and insurance so you can start paperwork prior upon my arrival so I can sign and drive.”
These guys are all pretty cagey. I find it pretty entertaining for the most part, almost like a sport. Quick question about the car itself. I’ve seen posts elsewhere which seem to confirm that remote starting on the app is available on both base and Touring models. Is that definitely the case?
I’m not going to lie, I’ve been kind of shocked what they seem to want for a Clarity PHEV. In comparing the Volt and the Clarity to one another (base models) their sale price (negotiated) is somewhat close. I figured a lease on the Clarity would come in somewhere close to the Volt as well. Boy was I wrong! $2k/down @ $200/mo for the Volt or $2k/down @ $370/mo for the Clarity. I have to admit that it’s a much nicer car but why the heck are the lease prices so different? The residual is .44 vs .47 so again I thought it would be kind of close.
It’s sad because at $2k down & $370/mo that’s basically $15k. Tack on the $7500 rebate and in the end you’re only spending $8,500 more if you were to buy it outright at $31k!
In the northeast there is almost $11k incentives right now. Its like probably $230 with 0 down. Still less than $300 sign and drive.
Too bad, that no bsm and parking sensor is a deal killer for me on top of that manual seats and no lumbar for a $34k car. Cant justify getting the $3k+ touring with just a few diff between the base.
That’s still a ton more than the North East. What’s going on back there? Is it state incentives or just Honda trying to unload them? I may hold out and wait for the end of the year. I’ve got to get rid of my current lease in about a month but I could borrow a family member’s car until the EOY if I needed to. I’d be fine with paying more for it, as it’s a nicer car than the Volt, but don’t know if I could justify $13.5k for a Clarity PHEV Base one pay vs $9k for a Volt Base (+ Leather) one pay. If I could get what they’re offering back East out here you betcha I’d lease it!
