One issue shut down all their sales in China. That’s not even touching the “no heat at idle” issue.
My 04 accord has 175k with zero issues. Love Honda. But they’re not immune to poor quality. There’s always been a difference between Hondas built in Japan and Hondas built in USA.
cmon dude. advertised deals in socal put an Accord or CRV at 250/month 36/12, civic at 200/month 36/12, FIT 170/month 36/12. Those are starting points FFS, all zero down, advertised rates at more than one locations
Ridgeline & Pilot I can find for 400 or so with no work, same terms, advertised deals.
A little hacking, drop in price or bank shopping, those deals are even better.
There are many people on here that have wanted Hondas (especially Pilots and Ridgelines) but ended up with other brands. You don’t think they tried to negotiate first? You seem to know it all. Why don’t you show us some of these deals?
Which region are you in ? The advertised deals you mentioned are only click and bait switches atleast on the East coast. Apart from the civic only, I have had about 5 deals for honda’s switched to either and Acura or another brand because of pricing. (2 switched from accord to TLX (1 was a lease return accord) 2 switched from Pilot to MDX (again deal was better) and 1 switched from a fit to an Encore.
I have yet to see a $400 pilot deal with insane amount due at signing even an LX. $250 Accords just started being advertise this month and that too with a decent amount at signing. Switch it over to true sign and drive and they bump back to 280 to 300 range.
I do agree with some of your points, such as 1% rule yes totally applies to Honda, quality is better than lot other brands, but its just the number you posted that I havent seen.
No need to be childish here. It is generally known that Honda’s are better long-term cars then short term, aka better to finance then to lease. I’ve had 2 Honda’s before and both barely hit the 1% mark. There are times when Honda does offer some lease deals but it’s few and far in between. Unless there’s actual proof, grow up and move on. No need to be internet warriors, we are all here to help each other in the search for lease hacks. If there’s proof, provide that, if not, let’s move on. This is for everyone.
Thanks everyone for your input. While a Honda may not be the most efficient car to lease, I have my heart set on it and while I can’t commit to buying it out-right, a lease would afford me the flexibility to figure out my situation in the next few years and then determine whether to buy it out or move on.
Based on Mark_Guzman’s feedback, I called the first dealership instead of coming in and was able to negotiate a $258 lease for 36/12 with $0 drive-off, inclusive of the 10.25% Chicago sales tax. This is a lower deal than I first asked them for and I’m not sure how they’re getting to a lease payment that low without changing the sales price.
Their sales price: $19,100
MF: .00105
RV: 57%
Chicago sales tax: 10.25%
Acq fee / doc fee / title fee: $595 / $175 / $221
When I plug those figures into the calc I get a $288 / mo. payment, yet they’re offering $258 / mo. Not sure what I’m missing here. Based on the calc, they’d need to reduce the price to $18,200 to get a $258 payment.
I have another dealer appt this afternoon that I’ll see if they can do better on, and I’ll be pretty happy with a sub-$250 lease with our high sales tax.
Don’t go into the other dealer, call them and work the deal over the phone. And as far as getting the payment to match the calculator, did you get on the those numbers from the dealer, price MF, fees etc? Post your calculator link.
Thanks joeblogs, I’ll call that dealer as well instead of going in.
Here’s my calculator link factoring the $19,100 price which shows a $288 payment. Their manager confirmed that the sales price was $19,100 yet still coming out to a $258 (including tax) monthly payment, over 36 months, with $0 down. Confirmed all taxes, TTF, doc, and acquisition fees were baked into the payment.
Yes, they confirmed $0 drive-offs. Thanks joeblogs and jamiemose, I’ll email another dealer in the area. They said $0 drive-off on the phone and they confirmed that they included the acquisition, doc, and TTL into the payments. I’m going to email them as well to have all the numbers they stated in writing.
There is no need to go into any dealer until your ready to pick up the car. I imagine you have quite a few Honda dealers in Chicagoland, I wouldn’t be surprised if you could save another $10 to $20 a month just by making a few phone calls/emails.
in your first post, they broke out the destination charge to make the price seem lower. Have you included the dest. charge in your lease calcs? i don’t see a civic EX for 21340 total msrp…
tonyg2017, the second dealer that I quoted the latest deal for does not have a destination fee (just the acquisition fee). I’m getting the $21,340 MSRP right off the Honda website for 2018 Civic EX.
