I just spent 3 hours at an Audi Dealership in LA.
I was trying to get the best possible deal on an S4 but it still ended up being a bit over my set limit. Can you tell me if you think their offer was fair?
it’s a Prestige S4 almost fully loaded - MSRP $65160
He wanted $799 monthly (tax included) + with $4K down which included the drive off (or so he says), for 7.5K miles and 39 months… Sounded high to me. He said he discounted the car by 10%…
You’re never going to get a good deal on a vehicle which is the top trim and has $14k in options above the Premium Plus model. It makes no sense to get such a well optioned vehicle for such a low mileage lease. That might be all you need, but you’re paying a huge markup for a well optioned vehicle that will sit in the garage most of the time. To put it in perspective, you can get a lower optioned S4 and save ~$200 a month or ~$2500 a year.
Go for a Premium Plus for the better residual value and lower MSRP, and add in Audi Care so your servicing is massively reduced.
Double check the forum here but we’ve seen A4’s in the $400’s and S4’s in the $600’s in the last few months. Even the brand new 2019 C300 has been gotten for $500p/m with an MSRP in the $50k region.
That S4 you saw must have had an amazing options list, but unless they do a 15-20% discount and base MF it’ll be very expensive. Have a search here and benchmark against deal in the last 2-3 months.
Thank you!
Yes, true. the best deal I’ve seen recently is an S4 Premium Plus for 675 tax included and drive off only in Chicago. I asked the guy for the dealer and emailed the dealer but no reply… I am willing to fly some place to get the car and drive it back to california… alas no reply from the dealer. I am not in a rush and will continue to scan this great forum regularly until i see what i want.
I was reading between the lines and assuming he was going for the 7.5k miles and 39 months to lower the price as much as possible (but would really do more mileage), I should have cleared that up.
Do you know if Audi would insist the vehicle should be serviced every 12 months even if only doing 7500 miles a year? Or can you string it out for 10k miles and over a year?
True - I was trying to lower the price by asking for 7.5K (I live near work and only drive about 5K per year, so with 7.5K I would have enough for a few roadtrips). 39 months was recommended by the dealer. I’d prefer 36.
Is Audi care very $$$? Worth it?
I think Audi’s 39 month program is slightly better than 36 months right now, that’s why the dealer is recommending it.
In regard to the service schedule, I think the big thing is not returning the car when a service past due light is on.
The services are glorified oil changes, so as long as you don’t run out of oil, I think the mileage is more important than the timing.
I’ve leased 2 Audis and neither time did Audi care make sense. But, I only drive 7500 mi/yr and I have a bunch of cheap mechanics in my area that can do the service.
Audi care won’t be a ripoff, and if you prefer only having it serviced at a dealer, than go for it.
You don’t need AudiCare. The first service is free. The second “service” just go to any mechanic and get the oil changed. And at tha if you only drive 5k/yr, you’ll never need it.
Thanks! With my current car I’ve had to take it to the service center a few times during my 3 years of ownership… they always did a multi point inspection, wheel alignment, brake check, they’d rotate the tire, etc… I also had to get new tires 2 years in and new rear brake 2.5 years in.
Was that all bulshit or is that just not necessary on a new audi?
