2018 Audi A6 3.0T Sport vs 2018 Audi A4 P+ Quattro

Which would you recommend leasing: 2018 Audi A6 3.0T Sport vs 2018 Audi A4 P+ Quattro? I’m torn because I like the updated interior and tech in the A4, but interested in the A6 power. I currently drive a 2016 Audi A6 2.0T P+ FWD and my lease is almost done.

Here are the deals I’m looking at:

2018 Audi A6 3.0T Sport
MSRP: 61xxx
Sales Price: 44xxx
Pre-tax Monthly Payment: $490
Leasehackr Score: 10.2

2018 Audi A4 P+ Quattro
MSRP: 47xxx
Sales Price: 40xxx
Pre-tax Monthly Payment: $449
Leasehackr Score: 8.7

It’s a really good question that I think was brought up in a similar thread.

I’d personally take the a6, but wouldn’t fault anyone for going with the a4.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to compare S4 to A6?

The A6 would definitely be cheaper, though.

That’s the point of his question- he’s not comparing the s4 to the a6. The conundrum is better engine vs better/modern interior. S4 would make the conversation moot because it’s best of both worlds.

Is the A6 a quattro as well?

Yes the A6 Sport is AWD

You summed up my conundrum quite well: better engine vs better/modern interior… though decision for me…

Pay the extra money and do S4. I’m assuming money is of no object.

I wanted to keep my payments to be under $500. I’ll check out the S4.

If you can deal with the technology difference, I’d go for the A6 personally.

Depending on what your after tax payment is, I would recommend A6… but you be stuck on A4 to stay explicitly under 500. Still not a bad deal.

A4 is a great car.

S4 isn’t leasing well now, you’ll be nowhere near $500/mo.

‘18 a6 is going to have CarPlay/android auto and a bunch of other tech/safety features. The interior is antiquated, but it’s not a dinosaur in the tech department like the Infinitis are known to be.

To be honest, I don’t think there’s much to think about- a6 hands down. It has the same power train as the previous generation s4.

Hi, would you mind sharing dealer info, please? This looks like a good deal I could jump on. Thanks in advance

I just got back for the dealership to check out the A6 and I shouldn’t have looked at the S4! That car was fun to drive and the interior is so nice!! However, the dealer hinted how the S4 doesn’t lease well and will be a lot higher than the A6…

I appreciate everyone’s feedback! Thank you!

Did you get any prices on the S4? Interested going to look at 2019 A6 and 2019 S4, different region but was curious where the numbers are going to be? Hoping that the s4 can be had for ~700 /mn

You can probably get a lightly equipped s4 for around $700. May need to use a couple SD to get there though.

Certain times of the year s4 leases very well; eg. last summer.

I am in NYC so don’t think I can use SD, although the dealership is in NJ so maybe. Good thing is I only need 7,500 miles and I am flexible on colors, options.

Personally, I’d take an ‘18 a6 for $500/mo over an s4 (assuming its $700/mo and money DAS is the same).

Not a whole lot of difference between supercharged v6 and turbo v6, considering the engine in the a6 was the same used in previous gen s4.

A6 doesn’t have full virtual cockpit, but it does have a 5 inch screen between the speedometer which replicates many of the important functions. Also, I don’t think you’re getting virtual cockpit on a $700/mo s4 right now.

A6 and s4 should have same safety and convenience features. S4 will have the newer mmi, but both run CarPlay and android auto.

S4 interior will be more modern and sporty. Biggest difference is the sport seats in the s4; they look a lot nicer than basic a6 seats.

Again, this assumes the a6 is significantly less (which is the reality and not an assumption). If the payment was magically the same, or close, i’d take the s4.

I’ve leased an ‘15 s5, ‘18 sq5 and ‘18 Q7, so I’m very familiar with all the powertrains/drivetrains, interiors and infotainment.

I should add that driving habits may vary. I prefer a v6 for passing ability and highway driving. In my case, an a6 or Q7 is more than sufficient. If you’re looking for a canyon carver, the s4 is obviously a much better choice. So, factor that in as well.

I tried getting an 18 S6 and couldn’t get anywhere near the prices people were getting on LH. I emailed 11 dealers in the tristate but honestly didn’t even consider the A6. Not sure if they still have models around but worth the look for sure.

Thanks everyone for the input. I’m going to try to wrap up the A6 lease this weekend. I’ll let you know how it goes!
