2018 Audi A5 Sportback Premium Plus... Is this a good deal?

Hello

I was hoping to run this one by you guys. I don’t have all the numbers but here is the deal that I was offered today.

2018 Audi A5 Sportback Quattro with an MSRP of $53,790.

Cap cost $47,590
Buying out my lease with 3 months left from Acura plus adding $1000 additional on “trade in”

$1500 due at signing including all taxes and fees and first month payment and $615.76 monthly including tax.

I am in PA.

Would love some feedback. Is this a good deal?

Thanks for all the help!!

Depends how badly you want the hatch. I leased an A4 Premium Plus Ultra Tech for $0 down and around $411/mo. Quattro would probably be another $40-50 a month. I would prefer an A4 wagon or A5 hatchback, but I wasn’t willing to spend and extra $100-150/month to get one. The A4 sedan leases great, its tough to get a deal on the hatchback or wagon though.

Personally? I think it’s an abysmal deal. But you aren’t going to get a hacker deal on an A5 hatchback.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I haven’t committed to anything yet so I will see what they can offer on a similarly equipped A4

What should I aim for to make this a good deal?

I was quoted $549 (with 5.5% tax) for a 3/36k lease with no money down from a dealer in Chicago on an S4 ($59k MSRP) last month. While the Sportback has some amazing styling, the S4 is a lot more vehicle for less money.

That’s impressive. I would do that over the current deal for sure.

It’s tough to say because you are not going to get a “good deal” on an A5. I subscribe to the philosophy that a car lease should be no more than 1% of the car’s MSRP including tax and with absolutely $0 down (meaning on a 36 month lease, I will only make 35 payments). You will never get that on an A5. Your deal probably isn’t even that bad for an A5. It’s just horrendous for a $53k car. I’m a big fan of wagons and hatchbacks, but they are very much becoming trendy again and deals are far and few, whereas the sedan market is practically dead and you can get amazing bargains (like the A4).

If I was buying for the long term I’d approach it different, but I’m just renting a car for 2-3 years.
