Does anyone have the RV and MF for a 2017 Volvo S90 T6 AWD?

Can anyone help me make sense of these numbers. I have to get a new vehicle in about a year and I am starting to do some looking around. I am having a hard time making sense of what they did here. I am not actively negotiating. I told them I am not in the market at this very moment and it didn’t take him long to get the numbers together. Just trying to get a better understanding of the process and what exactly I need to be looking for. And if I decide to go with a Volvo, he will be the guy, so it isn’t necessarily a waste of his time either.

It’s the time old question - if you already have a divorce in the works, how early is too early to dip back into the dating pool? Same with a lease. It’s never too early to look for your next lease lol.

Wasting-some-dealer’s-time-while-surely-not-getting-the-best-deal-because-why-would-he-give-it-to-someone-not- on-the-market? Instead - just go to a dealer, take a test drive, establish relations, keep in touch so when a decent deal pops-up within 1-3 month of lease end he will let you know.

I’ll be sure to check with you next time I need tips on my research and buying habits. Thanks though. When I sold I was happy to work with or talk to anyone that wanted to, no matter their time frame. Especially if it was only a few emails. Now I know he is courteous and quick to respond. Going in and test driving with no intention of purchasing in the next 6 months is a much larger waste of time than email. Also I know this isn’t a good deal. Having only worked a handful of leases, I am trying to get a grasp on how to properly negotiate one well before I need to.

I think we should all be like @willwar14. This guy is a leasing machine. When he is not negotiating for himself, he is negotiating for his friend, cousin, uncle, neighbor, co-worker, dog etc etc. And he is really good at it, so I think the practice aspect does work. If you only go in when you need a car in 4-5 days, then your options are limited.

The other guy who does well is @Phantomcypher. He is more somebody who knows his cars and prices and will jump on a deal when he knows it is golden.

@Senwia is another hall of famer, but he showed his limit when he tried to get a Maybach for under 1k.

The common thread to all of this is these guys tend to be able to take good advertised deals and make them even better. Eg Phantom got 12k on his Maserati when everyone got 10k. Willwar got incredible discounts even for Bonus tags and Conquest rebates.

Sure you did, but I have a hard time believing that you did go though every final detail - lease is much more complicated than simple sale. So, giving a ball park sale price to someone is not the same as what you ask a dealer now for a lease quote.

To “get a grasp” you don’t need to waste dealer’s time one year in advance, for obvious reasons. To really learn and get a grasp you can just play with calculators by entering different numbers - RV, MF, sales price - to see how changes affect your monthly payments. There is only one number that you’ll need to negotiate when it’s time to lease - the selling price. Everything else is available here or on Edmunds.

Which is why I got a set of legitimate numbers, so I can play around with them. On a vehicle that I am interested in, that took me 3 emails to get. Wasting time in sales only comes out of the mouth’s of lazy salesmen and secondary buyers with 3 repossessions and back due child support. Every email, phone call and up is an opportunity to make a sale or get a referral, no matter the time frame on the deal. But I’m sure you already knew that. All I asked for was someone to help me pick through the numbers. I don’t need a lecture on dealing with a dealership or a salesman.
My friend is a sales manager, I suppose I can just get his help from here on out.
