I am new to leasing. This community is really a great place to know how to lease
I got the following deal from my local VW Dealer (NorCal)
Make and Model: 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0T S 4MOTION SUV
MSRP: $28,105
Loyalty $1000
Lease Deal: 10k/36months
Lease Payment: 0 down / $199 per (before tax)
Is this a good deal. I am in for a second car and wanted something that is cheap
We need more details, like the sales price/MF/incentives, to fully evaluate, but it looks like a pretty good deal. The 2018 Tiguan will be a completely new redesign, which is probably why VW dealers are trying to clear out the 2017s.
The dealer is trying to do a bait and switch. I think the dealer got a better offer from another person. When I went today to finalize the deal, filled out all the papers and was waiting for the term sheet, fees etc to be provided the manager came back and said the sales person did a mistake and said the payment should have been $299 per month
I told them their website says $189 + $2999 due at signing comes to @273 for 12k miles per year and the offer was for $199 with 0 down for 10k miles per year.
I feel that the dealer was able to sell to someone for a better price and trying to confuse me
I am debating what should be the next course of action. Last time when I had an issue with Jetta service I complained to VW and they took some action
It doesn’t really matter if it’s bait-and-switch or not. They could’ve sold the vehicle on the same exact terms 30 minutes before you got there.
There is really not a lot of recourse, maybe emailing the GM of the dealership but they are not really obligated to sell you anything and you are not obligated to buy anything. False advertising may be covered if it says “1 at the price” with a VIN.
I was asked to fill in all the paper work and my wife took a test drive the manager came back and said the numbers are wrong. The really bad part is that the number they quoted did not even come close to the price on their website. Probably a mistake in the first place but the numbers they gave me was ridiculous.
