What is different about the new key-less go system in the new 2017 E classes? From pictures, it seems it’s no longer a removable shiny button
Removable button? Not sure what you mean. Every car I’ve had with pusbutton start the button is on the dash and it is not removable. My 17 E300 is the same way.
I’ve never heard of a removable button.
On older Mercedes Benz models, you could remove the button and put the key in. I know that the previous generation E class had this design. In the past, keyless ignition had frequently stopped working and people would just remove the button and use their keys
Interesting! I’ve had keyless go systems in our cars going back to 2008 and never heard of such a thing.
I can confirm it is not removable in the 17 E.
that keyless was so weird…u just pop out the button and the key could go in. The new E does not have that feature.
Instead, there is a slot in the center console (where the cup holders are) for the key. It keeps the key from moving around and keeps the battery in the key charged.
It is a key fob holder but in no way a key fob battery charger. It is changed out during your A service.
Hmmm…One more item to add to the list of incorrect information from the dealer!
I had heard the same but when I asked a service tech he explained that it is a lithium cell battery that gets changed out during service.
Half the dealers can’t even figure it out. Yes, the old KEY-LESS go has a removable button. New 2017 e class it is built in.
