I’ve been a big fan of this site. Learned a lot about leasing and the lingo that comes with it. I’m in Texas, where leasing is generally not that great, as we have to pay tax on the total MSRP of the cost, rather than on the individual monthly payment. However, I think I made out pretty decent - but please let me know if I’m wrong haha
I got a 2017 CX-5 Grand Select AWD - MSRP $31,135
Selling price $28995
Acquisition $595
Doc Fee $200
License and Title $300
Mazda Sales Tax Rebate (ie Mazda pays whatever the sales tax is) ~$1,830
Dealer incentive 600
Just leased that exact car for a friend. $280 a month with just first months payment for drive off. That includes 9.25% tax. I know own taxes in Texas are different but might give you an idea.
not sure how u got to 3.8%? negotiated price of 28995 is already 7% off the msrp of 31135 . And from my search around town, the new 2017 cx5 isnt easily discounted like some other suvs.
And sure, it’s a tax credit, but at the end of the day its still a $1830 rebate to me. If we called it something else, it wouldn’t change the deal or numbers. I don’t see how a $1830 “mazda tax rebate” is worse than a $1830 “mazda conquest/loyalty/insert-catchy-name” lease rebate haha
I would be curious to know more about the deal you worked. “exact” car might be incorrect, the entry level 2wd grand select is 28,895 and OP is probably getting into an awd model with some options. Even using the lowest msrp, with another 3k off sticker(doubtful), 100 doc fee… I’m getting 287 at that tax rate. Please detail your deal so I can try to replicate it… What region are you in? Incentives? Much appreciated.
The advertisement usually requires at least $2000 out of pocket, and that my not even include other fees due at signing.
You can use this thread as reference, and there is another good one around where a member secured approx $280/mo with only a few hundred bucks out of pocket.
Also the Sport pkg is the lower of the 3 trim levels.
I’d say misleading, notice the “*” in the AD. I’d call the dealer and simply ask them if you don’t see any other fine print on the AD.
But right off the bat, their first price of $130/mo + $3951 “down” (different than due at signing), if changed to $0 down, that already puts you at $249/mo, which is more than their supposed $199/mo with 0 down.
it looks like it doesn’t include any of the extra fees. also for mazda owners only. I do have a mazda, so i’ll just call later on and clear it up. I’ll report back with information. I have a few mazda dealers around me so I shall shop around also.
