2017 Mazda CX-5 Grand Select AWD - $340/mo (incl tax)

Hey guys,

I’ve been a big fan of this site. Learned a lot about leasing and the lingo that comes with it. I’m in Texas, where leasing is generally not that great, as we have to pay tax on the total MSRP of the cost, rather than on the individual monthly payment. However, I think I made out pretty decent - but please let me know if I’m wrong haha

I got a 2017 CX-5 Grand Select AWD - MSRP $31,135
Selling price $28995
Acquisition $595
Doc Fee $200
License and Title $300
Mazda Sales Tax Rebate (ie Mazda pays whatever the sales tax is) ~$1,830
Dealer incentive 600

MF 0.0001 (0.24% APR)
Residual 57%
10K/36month lease

$340/month due at drive off (1st month payment).
Total cost of lease (tax, title, license included) is 340x36 - $12,240

Leasehackr score 7.4 if I check the Zero Drive off box, or 9.4 if I don’t (even though total lease cost of 12,240 doesn’t change)

Let me know what you guys think!

Not sure about tax in texas, but pre-tax, pre-registration, aim for, 10,200 over the entire lease.

thanks for the info! it seems like I’m in the ball park then. texas makes you pay tax on the total msrp (28995 for me), which comes out to 1830.

12240 - 1830 (tax) - 300 (license and registration) = 10,110.

the info on this website really saved me some cash!

You are getting a tax credit though, so you aren’t paying any of it. The 3.8% discount seems pretty measly.

Just leased that exact car for a friend. $280 a month with just first months payment for drive off. That includes 9.25% tax. I know own taxes in Texas are different but might give you an idea.

not sure how u got to 3.8%? negotiated price of 28995 is already 7% off the msrp of 31135 . And from my search around town, the new 2017 cx5 isnt easily discounted like some other suvs.

And sure, it’s a tax credit, but at the end of the day its still a $1830 rebate to me. If we called it something else, it wouldn’t change the deal or numbers. I don’t see how a $1830 “mazda tax rebate” is worse than a $1830 “mazda conquest/loyalty/insert-catchy-name” lease rebate haha

wow thats a great deal then! with texas tax it would add 50 bucks or so to the base price, so your deal would come out to 306 or so. that’s amazing!

Your post says MSRP is $30135. 1 - (28995/30135) = 3.7%.

oh that’s my mistake! its 31,135. i just checked mazdausa.com to verify. thanks for your input tho!

On the 28th of October, I negotiated a 2017 CX-5 TOURING with Preferred Package from 28,935 to 25,595.

Total Cost w/ Tax Title Tags = 26,966
Money Factor = .00051
Lease 36 Months @ 12,000 Per Month
Residual = 57%

Final Payment: $299 per month with $1299 due at signing.

Good discount off Msrp for a Mazda, but looks like they marked up the MF. I show payment should be around $260 with $1299 due at signing

I agree that’s a good discount off MSRP, but you could save a good amount if you can get that MF lowered. Any way you could do some MSDs?

November Mazda numbers are better than October. They are offering a 33 month lease now at .00001 MF and 58% Residual. Lease cash up to $1470 as well

I would be curious to know more about the deal you worked. “exact” car might be incorrect, the entry level 2wd grand select is 28,895 and OP is probably getting into an awd model with some options. Even using the lowest msrp, with another 3k off sticker(doubtful), 100 doc fee… I’m getting 287 at that tax rate. Please detail your deal so I can try to replicate it… What region are you in? Incentives? Much appreciated.

First time looking into a lease. really looking into CX-5’s. How do i get into my first lease. looking into an awd cx-5. im in MA.

The website says $199 for 33 months for a sport awd. is this good?

‘Good’ is what you’re happy paying monthly.

The advertisement usually requires at least $2000 out of pocket, and that my not even include other fees due at signing.

You can use this thread as reference, and there is another good one around where a member secured approx $280/mo with only a few hundred bucks out of pocket.

Also the Sport pkg is the lower of the 3 trim levels.

Yah, I’m not looking for anything fancy. Just an AWD daily so i can put my main car away for the winter. https://i.imgur.com/tJFOpjy.png

I’m assuming that this must be a lie then. I requested more information about it, but no one has got back to me quite yet.

I’d say misleading, notice the “*” in the AD. I’d call the dealer and simply ask them if you don’t see any other fine print on the AD.

But right off the bat, their first price of $130/mo + $3951 “down” (different than due at signing), if changed to $0 down, that already puts you at $249/mo, which is more than their supposed $199/mo with 0 down.

it looks like it doesn’t include any of the extra fees. also for mazda owners only. I do have a mazda, so i’ll just call later on and clear it up. I’ll report back with information. I have a few mazda dealers around me so I shall shop around also.

On the plus side, per fine print; “12 month free maintenance offered from Quirk Mazda”
