Generally Golf GTIs don’t lease well, but I’m fairly happy with this one. Leasehackr score of ~7.4 years

From Serramonte VW in the bay area.

What is the breakout of the amount due at signing?

Breakdown of the Drive off:

acquisition $625
First Payment $397
DMV $311
Documentation $80
Tax on cap cost reduction $59
Total: $1472

Your $2k in trade-in is making you think this is a good deL, when in reality, it isn’t. Not counting the $2k trade-in (CCR), the monthly is closer to $375.

Also, how is the first payment (in your breakdown) $397, but your monthly $292? Shouldn’t those numbers match?

Sorry the breakdown was from a previous dealer email. So the first payment is the $292. I’ll get all the final numbers today.

It’s a 24m lease hence the ~$370 with 0 down. For 36m (changes residual to 62) and same MF it gets to $270pm which appears to be under the 1% benchmark for 36m some folk use as their rule of thumb here.

As I mentioned, GTIs don’t lease well (compared to some of the fringe deals seen here) but for the car I’m quite happy with it

Are you sure the RV only changes from 63% to 62% for 24 vs 36 months? Im guessing you’re confusing that RV change for 10k miles to 12k miles. If I’m wrong, it’s a no brainer to take the 36 month term.

I’d love to take the 36m deal, but I’m here on a 2 year visa. Yup only a %1 difference in RV (I double checked what the dealer said with Edmunds).

So the awesome deal is just out of reach for me personally, but others may be able to capitalise.

The RV for 36m on any trim GTI is 55%. Like mentioned above, the 1% difference is between choosing 10k or 12k miles, not 24 or 36 mo. Double check edmunds. Same RV/MF for all states

Ah right looks like I was looking at the posts from 2016 and they have lowered as we are now actually in that model year… makes sense.

Dunno what the dealer was going on about then
