On my deal, there was no tax charged.
I think you may have actually done better on the lease than your post indicates. I tried googling Texas sales tax credit and could not find anything on it. Just one old bimmefest post (below). Someone can educate me if I am wrong but it seems like this “credit” is just another rebate from the manufacturer.
