2017 BMW i3- 24m/10k miles - 11/2016, UT

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first post. Thanks for all the lease insight!

Looking at a i3 for a short commute - here’s what I’ve been quoted so far, would love any commentary. I’m in Salt Lake City, Utah. Looking for 24 month lease to bridge until Model3 arrives.

Model:BMW i3 17IA 5dr HB 94Ah w/AC (this is the NON-REX model)
MSRP: $47,395
’Savings’: $$2,095
Tax Rebate: $7,500
Selling Price: $37,800
Tax: $2,689.50
Fees: $610.00
MF: 0.00174
MF after MSD: 0.00125 ($3,150 in security deposits)
Residual: 64%
BasePayment: $383.69
TotalPayment: $410.74
LeasehackerCalcScore: 8.9 years (although the calc says payment should be $826?)

Thoughts? Is is still too soon to push for larger capital reductions on the 2017? Any other discounts I should be looking for?

Appreciate any commentary. Thanks!

The MF is marked up.

Thanks. Was suspicious of the APR being close to 4%. Is there a base rate I should shoot for?

The discount seems in-line although I’m less familiar with the non-Rex i3s.

.00136 is normal before MSDs as that’s BMW’s base rate. It looks like you threw in max MSDs so that should actually bring you to .00087.

If you can somehow qualify for fleet discount, that’s an extra $1500 reduction plus another .0002 MF reduction (to get to .00067). Not enough people check to see if their company participates in the programs @ www.bmwgroupfleet.com .

Isn’t the base rate .00134 this month?

I know there’s a guy in the Edmunds forums that knows all the rates/residuals/etc. I haven’t looked there but assumed that it’s always been .00136

No, it changes slightly every month or two.

Thanks @jmac63 and @reedog117, appreciate the comments.

Is the best strategy just to point out that the MF is too high, and walk away if they won’t deal?

Just tell them you’re confused about the base MF since other dealers are quoting you much lower MF, and that your understanding is that it’s set by the bank, not the dealer (that isn’t true since the dealer takes ~70% of any MF hike, but that may leverage them more to lower it).

Doesn’t the federal rebate of $2,500 require a minimum of 30 months lease?

You’re thinking of California’s state EV rebate.

Hi everyone,

Here’s the latest offering.

Model:BMW i3 17IA 5dr HB 94Ah w/AC (this is the NON-REX model)
+ZPK-Parking Assistant Package
+403-moonroof
+674-harmon/kardon Premium Sound System

MSRP: $47,395
savings: $$2,095
Tax Rebate: $7,500
Selling Price: $37,800
Tax: $2,689.50
Fees: $610.00
MF after MSD (7): 0.00085 ($3,150 in security deposits)
Residual: 64%
BasePayment: $396.83
TotalPayment: $424.80

Thoughts? Seems to meet the 1% rule, but isn’t close to the amazing deals that have happened historically. I’m told that BMW doesn’t typically have great holiday incentives, and unfortunately I can’t wait until spring.

Thanks again for all your help.

Hi Nate,
Not trying to hi jack your thread, just curious how are you getting a Tax rebate of $7500? I ask because I am in the market for a X1 and was curious if something like that would apply to me as well?

Federal rebate requires a minimum of 30 month lease in CA. Check your state.

Tax rebate is for electric vehicles.
