Thank you to everyone here, especially @Ursus , @Alex, and @vhooloo. I can’t be happier to have not only learned the tips, ins and outs of leasing, and to finally get the car I wanted at an unbelievable price!
For those newcomers that are interested in some random tips:
Pick a car you like, it narrows down lease hunting to a manageable process.
Email is your best friend. If you have an alternate phone, use it! You will be getting a lot of calls even from dealerships that aren’t willing to play ball.
Use carguru to check how many days the car has been on the lot.
Use edmunds to check RV and MF
You can get an estimate ballpark of what payment to expect by asking a few leasing companies. If you dont want to do legwork then using leasing company is an option (but then why are you on here? ;D)
HAVE FUN! And please dont forget to share your deal with those on here!
How much of the drive-off was CCR? With such a low MF, you could have considered rolling all the fees into the monthly. Anyhow, sounds like a good deal, considering it’s an Audi and an S3 at that. Congrats and enjoy the ride.
I test drove the BMW 3 series, the Benz C300, Lexus IS 300/350, and the S3, and the S3 absolutely blew the competitors out of the ballpark imo. The performance is equivalent to a BMW M series or Benz AMG (with better handling due to quattro system), the interior has a virtual cockpit which none of the others have (check it out- absolutely STUNNING), and the price is the same (to the cars mentioned above, obviously a lot less than the M or AMG) if you can get a deal like this.
Ninja edit: Also test drove the Q50 red sport which doesnt lease as well as the other trims, but can be had at around the same price as the S3 but the S3 has far better handling and better interior with same performance.
If you’re interested PM me. I haven’t asked if its okay to post yet. It was very hassle-free and upfront. The only slight curveball is the finance manager tried to get 3300 instead of 2800 COD (he “accidentally” didnt account for the Audi loyalty of $500). Other than that, it was very direct and I only received the numbers via phone (not e-mail) so I took a bit of a risk going there but I confirmed the numbers with Sales and Gen Manag. Overall great experience
Does anyone have any suggestions for getting tire/rim protection coverage (I declined it at time of signing)? Is it worth looking into? They quoted ~1500 for it and I figured that you need to have popped your tire 4 x to make it break even.
This is a pretty great deal for an S3 (given the hearty discount you negotiated on selling price). As far as I know, this is the benchmark deal in these from what’s been shared here on the site.
The S3 is a pretty awesome car. It’s a bit smaller and nimbler than almost all of the cars you were comparing it against. It’s no M series or AMG (the C43 is only quasi-AMG) in terms of performance and character, but it’s also about half the price and it’s pretty close! We don’t have much in terms of RS lineup that is offered in the US, but if you drive an Audi S car and then it’s RS counterpart, you’d see the extra performance and more edgy character that defines that top lineup (and the significant price premium that comes along with it).
Also, Quattro is great for acceleration and all weather grip, but generally is acknowledged to cause understeer which makes the handling less exciting than RWD cars. This sounds like I’m dumping on your parade, and thats not my intent. You got a great deal on a fantastic sports sedan. Cheers!! Give us some pictures of the car!
Do you know the selling price? Check if you would need the audi care because I’ve just been told by Audi that the first 10k maintenance is complimentary and the 20k one is $430. Overall seems to be a competitive deal because your drive-off is low but I think you have a little bit of wiggle room left.
Thanks! Selling price is 42472. i guess the value of adding audicare is that the 430 is covered and it raises the residual (which lowers the total cost)
