I really enjoyed driving the Ford Focus ST model, and am trying to find the best lease deal around the 92011 area. Dealers seem to be having some sweet deals on the SE models, but for the ST monthly payments are looking right around double.
Currently driving an '01 A4, fair condition, I need to get some reliable transportation, and being 23 not knowing what my future holds, leasing seems ideal with my situation.
Manual transmission is on my MUST list, and if I’m leasing, I would much prefer to get a little more car for the monthly payment. Top 2 cars currently are the Focus ST and the Mazda3. WRX is up there too. I like the smaller more sporty cars, I’ve been spoiled with my turbo for the past 7 years, would love to keep one, but that’s more on the want list, not the must list.
Side note, from what I’ve gathered lurking on this forum, am I correct in believing that I should go to the dealerships making them thinking I want to buy, then once price is established, switch over to leasing costs? This is my 1st time dealing with dealerships, so I appreciate the advice.
2017 WRX has 73%(!) residual on 36/12. If you only need 10 K miles - it’s 74%. With $0 down - it’s $320 + all “tax, license, title, registration, retailer fees, options, insurance & the like”. $285/mo is based on MSRP, so you can get a better deal after negotiating with a dealer.

I was thinking about leasing my ST about 3 years ago (it just wasn’t smart). I did get about $7k off, which helped, but i have a loan on my ST (2014 ST3 w/ every option available). Drove it back from Vegas to CA, most dealers will just stroke you on the ST or RS and tell you how exclusive, yadda yadda yadda, they are…
