By comparison, day old doughnuts are half price.
That range is too wide to be meaningful. Youāre going to have to dive deeper than that.
Filter for engine, transmission, trim, etc to really compare apples to apples.
Also check Hagerty for valuation; Hemmings for listings, and BAT/C&B for completed auctions.
a car with that low miles should be put on C&B or BAT, people on there pay the most.
The MMR is $24,100 and one with 12,500 miles just sold for $25,300.
Carmax offer seems pretty close.
2004 CHEVROLET CORVETTE 2D CONVERTIBLE
Everyone. Thank you so much for all the information, resources and comments.
She had someone (private buyer) come by today and offer $25,000. Sheās convinced she needs $28,000 for it.
I will share all of this information with her. Maybe they can meet in the middle.
I will update everyone as I know more.
I appreciate everyone in here.
Iād say split it down the middle and you did damn good. They used to give these away a few years ago. Iām pissed I didnāt get one for 12-15k. Of course with more miles then this, but not that much moreā¦
I also noticed when I used to search them that red ones always sold for a little less then the more popular colors. Have to factor that inā¦
I think meeting in the middle would be a very good outcome. See my post above. These cars seem to be ticking time bombs. The fundamental mechanical parts are solid, but they contain a lot of American electronics. Tires have an expiration date and they can be expensive on this car. Seals are always an issue if the car has sat for any length of time and can start to leak. The next 20 people to come look at it may know all this and offer less. In the meantime, the chances of something going wrong increases the longer it stays for sale.
My father-in-law was crazy meticulous with maintenance even if he had rarely drove it.
My mother in law put new tires on it in 2019 (he passed in 2017). Sheās probably put 2,000 miles on it over the last 2+ years.
Sheās wanting to cash out and use the money for a new RX350.
One of the light motors is starting to fail. So @RobC2 everything you are saying is about to come true. I hope she calls todays buyer back and meets in the middle and moves on.
My Dad kept his in very nice condition, always garaged in SC. I know he took the rear end apart (himself) years ago to fix a leaking seal. Then after I sold it, the buyer called a couple of days later to tell me he traded it in because one of the rear axles was leaking pretty badly.
We rebuilt both headlight motors, but the fun one was the one I did right before I sold it. As I was stripping it down, the tabs on the painted headlight cover snapped off. So that car now has one headlight Gorilla-glued together. The TPMS sensor was another adventure. They arenāt that expensive, but apparently, they need to be programmed using a special dealer tool. Discount Tire had some issue with it, but I donāt remember the specifics. Anyway, after about 100 tries, I was finally able to do it using a process involving a big magnet from Home Depot (instructions online).
Here is a picture:
Agree
I bought a c5z06 for 7k with 70k a few years ago the wife caught him cheating and she sanded the roof down
Thatās a steal. Do you still have it?
Mehh, C7 is where itās at. Best looking corvette made to date. Sure, C8ās are ok but they lost much of the corvette heritage imo. Iām kicking myself for not pulling the trigger on a C7 a few years ago, especially with how the market is now.
I canāt seem to keep a car past 6 months I sold it for a cobra
Sold for 13k just like that
I currently ride the bus I donāt have a car
C6z06 is where itās at!
Looks to be well maintained. I wasnāt aware that these cars had that many issues. I mean it is GM but my word lol.
C7 Z06 is one of the more exciting cars that Iāve driven. The car doesnāt have THE most power in the world, but that thing is wild. Looks good, sounds great, has good handling, and is actually quite comfortable.
Nothing was that major, but you donāt want to incur any repair costs when you are trying to sell. I am sure with all of that fixed, you could drive it for a years with little to no issues.
OP - @wantingadeal - great thread & thread for sharing. This provides an interesting discussion to the forum, rather than the āwill you tie my shoe for meā threads.
Agreed. There have been a few discussions lately focused on older cars and I have learned a lot.
Where are you located? Just curious. This sounds like a steal.
