1st Time Lessee - evaluating 2017 BMW 328d Sport Wagon

I have never leased, but have to replace my VW TDI Sportwagen. The BMW would be like the VW, but on steroids. But given diesel future uncertainty I want to lease this time. I am in NJ. Here is the offer I just received, which I really don’t know if it is good or not, pls advise:

36/12,000
Year/Model: 2017 328d xDrive Sports Wagon
MSRP: $56120
Cash Down: $0
Negotiated Price: $52100
Incentives: Rebate as Cap reduction: 2500
Capitalized Fees: Acquisition ($925) Fees & Insurance ($684)
Cap Cost: $51209
Residual: 61% (34233)
Money Factor: 0.0015
Lease Payment: $638 + 57 taxes = $695
Drive-off: Registration/Title, First month’s payment: $2304

$700 for a $56k BMW doesn’t sound good. You mention MSDs multiple times suggesting you will put some MSDs, but the program has expired.

I’d aim AT LEAST 630 with 2k upfront. That is with tax. ~~~2.5k off.

Unfortunately looks like another example of how BMW doesnt offer good leases anymore.
I’m done with mine in August and am not getting another due to how bad they are leasing lately.
I even have an open credit app from April so I can still use MSDs, and still no good deal to be had.

I never see a BMW wagon on the streets either.
Is this one you see on a lot, or is a build to order?
I would think there would be better deals to be had on less popular sedan body styles too.

Yes, few around. This is the last 2017 the dealer can order.

Oops, copied another form and didn’t delete all those

Well if its an order all bets are off, find one in stock for a better deal

That payment doesn’t pass the 1% rule. I’d also suggest shopping around. According to Cars.com, there are 406 new 3 series wagons for sale in the US.

it probably won’t pass the 1% rule right now, wait and it most likely will. The diesel is also few and far between

11 on East Coast, one of which has most of the options I want, but not all.

That monthly payment is very high, you should be more in the $500 range per month. Very little demand for diesel cars now so you should be able to get a better deal. Also check out Executive demo models, you can get great lease deals on those.

Interesting, because if you compare gas vs diesel X5 as CPO’s the diesels are more expensive. Same for 3 and 5 series.

diesels are always more expensive, but since there is less demand for them you should be able to get better deals than normal (but they will still be more expensive than gas models)

What company do you work for? (Asking for Corp fleet eligibility)

Retired, and the AARP rebate is gone forever. Anyway, after evaluations here and now seeing the Chrysler recall and Volvo saying that they are ceasing diesel production, I’ve decided against the car altogether.
