19 Range Rover SVR Lease - Thoughts?

Hey All -

So I am currently in the market for a Luxury SUV and I started phase 1 with dealer 1 for negotiations today. I am torn on what to think here knowing SVR’s are not really abundant and rare, so any help/thoughts is greatly appreciated.

Lease Term - 39 Months
Lease Miles - 10,000/year
Monthly Price - $1986/mo
DAS - $9404 (They say this covers tax, tags, title, and 1st mo payment)
MSRP - $120,024 - No discounts, and was told that Land Rover never offers discounts as they are a "boutique automaker who manufacturers only 50-70k units a year)

0 cap cost reduction is what I am told on this vehicle.

There are two other dealers with 19 SVRs in stock I plan on speaking with tomorrow in addition to what was received on this first offer.

Odd, the 3 Land Rover dealerships near me all advertise discounts on their websites.

Ranges are gorgeous trucks but not 2g’s a month nice. Are you only in the market for a Range.

I am not only in the market for a range, but this is a performance range, highest base price model they offer and limited production. Comps would be a G63, X5M - off the top of my head.

First of all, that dealer is lying through their teeth. Land Rover always has discounts, sometimes they have huge discounts. I just checked Autotrader, and there are dealerships that have $20k + discounts on new units. However, these are 2017’s, not 2019’s. The 2019’s might still be too new for them discount.

Second of all, that’s a terrible deal. You are paying $87,000 to drive a Range Rover Sport for 39 months. That’s 3/4 of it’s MSRP. You might as well by a leftover 2017 for $98k at that point and at least own the car.

However, if I was you and absolutely needed an SVR, I would pick up a used 2015 with 20-30k miles for $70-75k. You’ll save a fuck ton of money. It doesn’t make sense to lease RR most of the time, and especially with this SVR.

Yeah, you can pick up an X5M for under $1300/month with like $3k DAS.

And typically I would go this route. The problem is - I would never want to own a range! They are mechanical/maintenance nightmares, I literally just had one break down on me that I was renting for a month with 6600 miles on it. If it was a more bulletproof manufacturer with a better track record, I’d just buy one cash and be done with it, unfortunately I don’t have that option here.

The normal RR Sports just do not do it for me. I could easily probably work out a $1200-$1500 lease deal on an autobiography sport, but I’m not interested in those. I want specifically the SVR.

It is a business write off so the tax savings should help. I think the problem here is the dealer is going to know I am looking for something specific and try to use that as leverage. I am not really sure how to get around that part of it. I am not just a buyer cross shopping your every day GLS, X or Q against their mass produced line.

I think 18 Bentayga is about 2k / mo (but probably at least 15k DAS)

$1995 at 5k miles a year, and almost 20k DAS. It would also need heavy aftermarket mods for me to even want to be seen behind the wheel of one of those things.

Have you checked out a track hawk? You can just about name your price on those in major markets and it outperforms the SVR all over. Most comfortable suv I have ever sat in.

I don’t know. I much rather have a Bentayga than an SVR and I’m a young guy in my low 20’s. Keep in mind how fast the Bentayga is, especially for the same money (a bit more, but negligible at that point) as an SVR.

Again, I don’t think driving an SVR for 3 years is worth $87k like those lease numbers you posted. If you’re so scared of the reliability that you wouldn’t buy a CPO or used one with a warranty, then you shouldn’t be looking to lease one either. I would get a CPO or Leftover if I were you and only wanted an SVR and forget about leasing one, because it’s gonna cost you double.

I’d be getting half the mileage on a Bentayga, so its really a non-starter for me. The exhaust notes are really whats selling me on the SVR, Bentayga wouldn’t be able to touch that. As far as reliability is concerned, I’d rather be out $1995 a month if I have a problem vs $70-80k for a CPO purchase. Especially if its a problem where its gotta sit at the dealer for diagnostics - I can let them sweat it out and if it goes past 20 days I’ll just threaten lemon law. Unfortunately though, with these limited runs, it may indeed seem as if this is a “pay to play” type deal where it just makes more sense purchasing outright from the dealer. We will see tomorrow. I’d rather take depreciation on the front end of these vehicles vs trying to off it as a 2nd owner.

Can you elaborate more on the “name your price?” I have employee pricing, but I don’t think it works on those.

I will google some trackhawk vids on youtube tonight

Get the new Jag F Pace SVR

I guess it all comes down to how much you want the car, especially at this price point. It not like trying to score hackr deal on 40-50k suv. I would find a dealer willing to give you reasonable discount, and get it n enjoy. But definitely not the deal above

too small!!

thank you. I think you’re right, after typing out the numbers on this thread - the DAS with what is out of pocket, I would be very close to paying the full MSRP at the end of 39 months.

Hallelujah - he has seen the light…

Maybe but it looks pretty bad ass
