100K miles Land Rover Range Rover, should I buy and get third party warranty

North Cal Location

There is a 2020 Range Rover with 100K miles for sale for 30K near me. Know it’s a maintenance time bomb. Thoughts on buying? Has anyone used third party warranty? I have a quote from Empire Auto

As a big RR fan and as someone who has owned multiple with little to no issues, albeit none with 100k miles on it, I am going to advise against this decision.

Don’t do it - it’s gonna be a nightmare

you’re paying for a spot in the mechanics shop

Just buy 2 for when one is in the shop

$30K for a 100K miles 2020 sounds expensive. 2018-2023 is same body . Use cargurus and do a wide search. I am sure you will find better alternatives.

What’s the price and coverage?

I’ll join the chorus and say NO.

Problem with extended warranties is they love to find loopholes to not cover things, and you’ll still have to pay a diagnostic fee from the dealer to see what the issue is.

I love Range Rovers but would never own one out of Land Rover warranty and certainly wouldn’t own one above 100k miles.

As a former Rover owner, it isn’t just the gamble with maintenance costs, it is a gamble with the potential inconvenience of having a car in the shop or having a car leave you stranded.

Usually you drive a RR to look good, and it doesn’t look good to have your car misbehave.

If you can do some of your own repairs it would shift the decision a bit, but if you are going to do retail or dealer service I would avoid that purchase.

Sir if you want to empty your wallet, you can instead donate to the LHers Poorsche 911 for $911 with $911 DAS Charity, whose President is @li8625.

My guess is that a third-party that issues a warranty for a 100,000 mile Range Rover can only stay in business by denying a lot of claims

No way. You will be paying easily 10-15K in warranty. Just get a new one

Genuinely curious. Have anyone ever seen a RR with over 200K miles? I think the most I have seen was about 170K ish miles.

They are probably out there, just you dont see them since they are sitting at a dealership / mechanic trying to be fixed.

$911k for this one

you forgot the “only $911k”

I’m dying to know how much the warranty costs.
