SIGNED v2: 2018 Honda Clarity Base - NEW - $1000 DAS - $282 monthly. Re-signed 1/1/19

Thanks to everyone for their insightful and learning experience.

Great deal on a 2018 Honda Clarity base.
Signed 12/30/18 - _Re-signed 1/1/19_

[2018 Honda Clarity - PHEV - $305/ month including tax - $1000 DAS - re-signed for more rebate on 1/1/19](CALCULATOR | LEASEHACKR Clarity Base – $7600 Honda incentive + $500 Honda Employee. Added Honda care maintenance for $435.&monthlyTax_radio=true&miles=12000&msd=0):

Original deal on 12/30/18:
MSRP: $34,295
Selling Price: $23,421
Monthly Payment: $305 including 9.5% monthly tax
Cash Due at Signing: $1000
MSD: none
Incentives: $7600 Honda + $500 State employee (HP Q31A)

Months: 36
Annual Mileage: 12,000
MF: 0.00047
**Residual:42% **

Region: So Cal
Leasehackr Score: 10.1

So we initially got the car on 12/30/18 at $305/month including tax with $1000 DAS.
Great deal using the $7600 Honda lease incentive + $500 Honda state employee certificate + dealer discount.

Then I found out that our utility company (SCE) is offering double the cash rebate (post sale) for $1000 if you take delivery after 1/1/19.

So we ask the finance manager and he said the GSM would have to approve, but we can re-do the deal if we purchased the Honda care maintenance package for $1050.

After negotiations back and forth, we get to $435 for the Honda care maintenance (covers all dealer oil changes, tire hazard replacements, and other stuff).

So we go back in and they re-do the contract.
Ended up paying most of the Honda care up front ($300 increase DAS) and monthly lease is now at $310.

NEW DEAL signed 2 days later with Honda Care and double utility rebate:
MSRP: $34,295
Selling Price: $23,650
Monthly Payment: $310 including 9.5% monthly tax
Cash Due at Signing: $1300
MSD: none
Incentives: $7600 Honda + $500 State employee (HP Q31A)

Months: 36
Annual Mileage: 12,000
MF: 0.00047
**Residual:42% **

Region: So Cal
Leasehackr Score: 9.8

Congratulations! But in effect for the Honda care you are paying 300 up front and 10 $ increase for 36 months so I total around 750 for Honda care package ?

Still seems like a great deal.

The sce offer is it listed on their website ? Could you please share that ?

Thanks - but actually if you do the math I am paying around $480 for the Honda care maintenance ($300 up front and about $180 - $5 more than the original deal- in monthly lease payments).

The SCE rebate infö for the extra cash if you take delivery after 1/1/19:

SCE $1000 utility rebate post sale deal after 1/1/19

In NorCal, PG&E bump up the rebate to $800 from $500, starting 1/1/2019, not sure if they honor if you lease a car in December as I have yet to file a rebate.

Yes, SCE in So Cal bumped up from $450 to $1000 starting yesterday.

That’s why we chose to re do the contract.

For the extra $550 rebate, it will pay for the Honda care maintenance.

Who was the Dealer? Thank you

Check your PM box…

the calculator is not filled out properly. does the “$7600 honda incentive” actually include the $7500 federal tax rebate? what about the $1500 ca state cvrp rebate?

No there is a difference between the $7600 Lease incentive that Honda passes to you and the $7500 federal tax credit you would use for purchase / financing / credit union.

If you buy it or finance it, you do NOT get the $7600. You would get $1000 Honda incentive and what ever the dealer gives you. At the end of the year when you file your Federal taxes in 2020, you can claim the $7500 credit.

If you lease it, Honda who receives the federal incentive, passes it along to you plus $100. That $7600 deduction is taken off MSRP at the dealer, lowering your cap cost and thus monthly lease.
You can not claim the $7500 if you lease the car as Honda Motors already took the credit (owner of car).

I leased it and got $10,600 off MSRP total ($7600 Honda incentive + $500 State employee + $2500 dealer disc)

As for the $1500 CVRP, that is a post sales rebate which you apply online as I just did was told it takes 90 days to process…

There is one exception to the post sales rebate - if you live in San Diego power area - they have a prequalification process where you can get $1500 off the car MSRP immediately without waiting for a check. You would have to apply and see if you qualify: https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/eng/rebatenow

Congratulations on your deal!! Can you PM me the dealder as well?

PM sent …

This looks a good deal though I was looking for Kia Niro plug in hybrid.

Can you send me the dealer info?

I got it from Thousand Oaks Honda
Contact was Fabian Ochoa… super easy to work with and very Transparent…no games like 1st Kia or Champion Kia.

was also looking for the Niro PHEV but changed my mind because of these three reasons
-Clarity has higher range on battery so you get a higher fed rebate (7500…so better lease term and almost 3500$ difference in net cost when you start at same MSRP)

  • Clarity gas only mpg is 44 almost as same as Niros 49mpg
-Niro PHEVs are in short supply so the dealer attitude is terrible
-No discounts on msrp and 5.2% apr for Niros
-Niro is not an SUV …there is no way you can fit two big bags in the trunk of that thing.its actually a hatchback with a tall roof.
  • most importantly Niros have terrible residuals …they depreciate crazy.

Congratulations on your deal. This might be what I’m looking for to replace my 2016 Volt lease that is about to come up in February. Can you PM your dealer to me? Thanks
