Insurance question

Hello everyone! I’ve been lurking for a few months. The knowledge base on this forum is amazing. I took a permanent job in the Bay area, but my primary residence is located in Ohio. I will be commuting (flying) back and forth on my off days, but would like a vehicle that I could use while working. My truck and wife’s Jeep are insured in Ohio (which is vastly cheaper than California). My question is if I leased a cheap vehicle out here could I add that to my Ohio policies or would I need to get a California driver’s license as well as insurance based in California? I currently only have an Ohio License. Thanks for any help you can provide.

You would have to get a California policy for the vehicle as that is where it would be registered. You do not need a California license. You can not have licenses in two states.

Thanks! That’s what I figured, but thought it was worth a shot.
