X5 Lease: Now or After 2027s?

,

My 330i lease is up at the end of August and I’m looking to get into an X5. I’ve been trying to figure out if I’ll be able to get a better deal before or after the 2027 model comes out. It’s a complete redesign, but I’m happy with the current design. My dealer said that production will stop in July for the 2026 model as they switch over to producing 2027s.

I would assume demand for the current year model will wane as the new model approaches. But the current lease deals still seem very expensive for an X5 (residual value at 52%). On the other hand, the 2027 design seems controversial and perhaps a bit fugly (hard to make up my mind until the official pics are released). So maybe the 2027s will end up cheaper? What do you guys think?

I don’t expect it’s going to be any serious amount better. BMW will almost certainly gap production so there isn’t a crazy amount of distressed inventory.

When the 2024 X3 gave way to the 2025 (which was a new model) we did not see BMW put out any crazy programs on the '24, and they did stop production of that model a little early to allow some sell-thru before the 25’s hit the ground.

All that is likely to happen is that you’ll wind up being left to pick from the crap specs that no one else wanted.

If you’re particular and want what you want, I’d act sooner than later, if you’re okay rolling the dice, maybe you can do marginally better by getting something really horrendous that’s been stuck at some dealer for a while

Hm I certainly don’t want crap specs. Thanks for the input!

Here’s a great place to start!
