Window Tinting Cost?

I’ve never paid to tint windows, but my new car/color combo will look much better if I do. I obviously did research, but I’m curious how much of it is BS. Ceramic/dye/etc.

4 door sports sedan, do I get the ceramic or is that just marketing BS? What should be a target price on this?

Any tinting advice would be appreciated, located in South Florida if anyone has a place they recommend.

4-500ish seems to be the average going rate nowadays (at least in my latest experience) assuming you’re just doing 4 doors and rear. Don’t get involved with anyone saying they “can do it for way less”, you get what you pay for

Ceramic is definitely not a scam. I got Llumar Pinnacle series installed on my truck, all sides, windshield, back and panoramic glass roof for 900 total in Tampa, Tinterz. I think a sedan is closer to 500 to 600. The shop I used has all their pricing fully transparent online, use that as a higher end price point when shopping. Don’t use a mobile tinter, take it to a proper shop with credentials and experience with whatever brand you are getting installed.

There’s a really long thread here. Concepts should be durable, even if your location isn’t what’s in the topic title.

Llumar is the best IIRC. Ceramic is not a scam. I had cheap tint on my LT1 – looked dark af from outside and inside. I paid up for ceramic on my EQS and it looks dark af from outside but inside you can hardly tell its tinted

I think tinting is a scam.

I’ve also never owned sunglasses.

My local guy has tinted six cars for me since 2022, and I’ve always paid under $300 each time. Not the fancy ceramic tint, just regular stuff. Always turned out great. Never had issues.

A few people in that thread def got ripped off.

After reading that thread, does anyone know what nano ceramic is?

Love a South FL recco if anyone has one.

Feel like calling a tint shop unprepared leads to a worse reaming than most other businesses.

I got ceramic and they’re much better than regular tint for keeping car cool

The tint place I used jerked me around, so I can’t really recommend them.

I strongly disagree with this. My mobile tint guy I’ve been using for many years is contracted by BMW Mercedes Land Rover dealers to do high end tint, which of course they upcharge for. He’s the best in the business and his workmanship + lifetime warranty speaks for itself.

That’s fair, I shouldn’t generalize mobile tinters into one group.

Are you referring to a full front windshield tint or just that “eyebrow” at the top?

full front tints are actually not legal, unless you have a medical exemption. Your state may have variances, but that’s the general rule.

Full front, I know it’s not legal, however I do see some do it in PA while cutting some in the corner for PA reg sticker placement.

I just want to know whether windshield tint worth it for the heat/glare reduction.

Some folks on the Tesla forums swear it helps, especially for the large windshields. I’ve gotten quotes for between $200-300 just to do the front windshield with ceramic tint. Never did it of course

Have you tried groupon? Lots of deals everywhere.

Worth every penny if you’re somewhere hot.

You can get ceramic tint for the windshield that doesn’t darken noticeably but blocks IR. Makes a huge difference.

Long time customer to local NYC tint/audio shop and they charged me $225 for 35% all around (minus front windshield) on 228 yesterday.

In the northeast I wouldn’t do anything that darkens the windshield.
