Really common unfortunately. Had a kid at Audi run his toy car over the hood and into the paint of an R8.
Why should the dealer be left paying for someone else’s negligance? Not sure how insurance in China works, but if it is similar to dealer insurance in the US, then the debutibles are sky high and are really only used when a car gets totaled.

That still wasn’t as bad as when a guy texting hit a lightpole that fell onto the entire rear end of a Panamera. Think the total repair bill was $50,000 for just the Panamera and the repaint on the rear bumper was off (white paint).
Not sure where this happened but the article is wrong about making a sweeping statement that paintwork means a new vehicle cannot be sold as new.

I’m still stuck at leaving a kid unsupervised around a bunch of cars. Even in a showroom, what if te dealer goes to move one and doesn’t see the kid?

My toddler is mostly well behaved, but we left her at her table playing while watching cartoons for a few minutes and she had drawn on her dress and her hands with her markers (they came with a Minnie Mouse purse that can be decorated). I would never leave my kid unattended at a car dealership or any public space really, certainly not around cars that could potentially be moved to your point.
