Yeah missing out on the best deals doesn’t hurt. Overpaying when a deal could have been a lot better… doesn’t hurt.
Are you sure??? I structure all my deals such that acquisition fee, taxes, doc/dealer fees, whatever other BS fees (non DMV) are included in the monthly. Essentially no money down other than MSDs. If that is under 1% of the car’s MSRP, are you sure you can think of a scenario where that is a bad deal???
And no, you can’t get a BMW x5, BMW X3 m40i, Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes GLE, Audi Q7 or Q8 for this. You never could get a Land Rover for this.
Maybe a Maserati Grecale? I’m going to see how desperate the dealers are end of month haha.
Will probably order a X5, it’s the best value SUV of the above.
Grecale likely wouldn’t do even if inceptions are paid upfront. Levante might be under 1% if you pay inceptions upfront. Roll everything in you will not be under the 1% rule. Good luck though!
Yeah, 2023 Audi E-tron RS
msrp 153,xxx
The Audi store in our group was doing 24mos 15k/yr with just 1st and dmv due at signing for 799 for employees.
It’s pretty common for fairly undesirable or niche cars, high msrp cars to go sub 1% , think bmw 8 series, x5m , m4 cs prior gen, rs e tron gt.
Sure the class you are talking about , ie basically soccer mom suv segment , yes you will rarely get those for 1%
I haven’t see X5M go for under 1% so far…
So many uninformed people believing in stupid “rules” is yet another reason MSRP keeps going higher.
The same exact car, these people don’t wanna pay $750 / month for an arbitrary $70k sticker, but they’ll pay it if it’s an equally arbitrary $80k sticker.
But those are two different arguments. Whether or not the car is worth the MSRP is a separate question from whether the lease payment is good relative to the MSRP, assuming the MSRP is fair. So, like with a Grand Cherokee 4xe Summit Reserve it’s kind of overpriced, so even if it is < 1% maybe that’s not a good deal. But that’s not an issue with the 1% rule, that’s an issue with overpriced MSRP. When people are using this rule that is given the assumption that the MSRP is fair to begin with (which is, of course, an assumption that should be applied with care).
You don’t think I could talk them down to a 25% discount and $5,000 dealer cash on the Grecale Modena??? These things cannot be selling…
Have you not checked the Share Deals & Tips sub since the inception of LH?
Do you see the best deals there being 1% or well below?
There are vehicles where 1% would be overpaying by thousands. There are vehicles where an amazing deal would be 1.25%. There are vehicles where the same deal would be .75% for one person and 1.25% for another.
The only consistent part of the rule is that it gives poor advice to anyone thay leverages it. The greatest disservice LH has done to the community trying to learn has been to propagate such drivel.
25% meaning an $80k car will be discounted 20k pre-incentive? I highly highly doubted. Maybe 20%. Though if you succeed, be sure to let us know!
Edit: This has to be one of the best ones out there: https://www.maseratiofpuentehills.com/inventory/new-2023-maserati-grecale-modena-awd-4d-sport-utility-zn682avm8p7432723/ And I’m pretty sure it includes the $2k aged inventory bonus. And btw, did the $5k cash and $9k cash on Levante just magically went away??? They disappeared in program lookup!
Grecale inventory is really backing up, according the CarDealershipGuy on “X” (Twitter.) Not my cup of tea, but it looks like a good cruiser/hauler.
Narrator: they’re not.
Not hard to see why it’s not selling. Why pay $70k for something that looks exactly like a $30k Mazda CUV…
I think it’s far better looking than that, but all CUVs have the same silhouette because the consumer seems to have lost all imagination. I imagine the reliability reputation is hanging over them.
neurosurgery ftw.
I’ve seen pretty close about 6 months ago. 1600 a month
We’re not going to see pre-covid ICE vehicle lease prices for probably another 2 years. That’s best case scenario depending on the economy and rates.
It’s also WTP: willingness to pay. The last couple years have proved plenty people are proving PT Barnum right.
