One of the most fun manuals I’ve ever had was MK8 GTI…and a real bargain for what you get! Haha If you are shorter try a Miati…at 6’3" my head was pushing the liner…
EDIT: The other thing is when I started looking at M3/M4 again the insurance here in SoCal is INSANITY…50s, no tickets/accidents, same company for decades and 4000-5000 a year for it, umbrella goes up 25%. Plus where I live near DP/Laguna motorcycle cops EVERYWHERE. Unless you track really it is hard to push these crazy performance cars nowadays.
I’d skip this, lots of these on dealer lots, it’s not the best trim for value hold/desirability like the GTS used to be (in my opinion) due to the hybrid system. Maybe that shakes out differently, but I would stick to something else, or maybe even a 992.1 GTS if you can find a deal on one.
I looked at 458s but none are anywhere close to $200k. The cleaner ones are already $300k+. They’ve already appreciated so much that I’m not confident enough those values will hold.
Thanks for commenting. I feel the same way but wanted someone closer to the market to confirm. Just the fact that they’re available at MSRP indicates the market isn’t too hot on the current GTS.
2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X, you will definitely get the excitement part. I also think they won’t drop their value anytime soon(if you get it for MSRP or slightly above)
Why not a z06? Obviously much cheaper than your budget and not as rare as these cars but man the experience for low 100k is tough to beat. You should be able to get one at a significant discount like 15-20k off msrp. Can dump it in a few years and prob lose 20-30k max. New car so don’t have to warranty about maintenance issues and etc
Currently own an R8 and a 992 GT3. I previously had a Targa GTS and while it was a gorgeous car I drove the R8 more because of the engine noise and overall excitement. That being said I wouldn’t choose a GTS or any carrera over the R8. GT3 minimum. Get the R8.
Exotic car pricing is at aths. There’s no guarantee that anything you buy won’t depreciate from here. Especially anything that’s a 22-23 like you desire. That’s like asking what stock is going to double this year…sounds like you have money. Buy what makes you happy and be happy if you don’t lose money on it
10+ year old manual trans exotics would be the safest bet if I was looking for something to drive for “free”
I like the Bentley GT, I think the best recommendation is to get the V8 since it shares the platform with VW. Same motor is in the cayenne turbo, panamera turbo, URUS, RSQ8, RS6 and so on. Maintenance on them should not be as bad. Def stay away from the V12.
