What’s the deal with inventory pricing on Cadillac.com / Chevy.com ‘Shop Inventory’ tool?

Shopping around for a deal on an Equinox or Optiq. Saw a nice discounted price listed Cadillac.com in their ‘Shop New Vehicle Inventory’ feature. Contacted the dealer and they seemed to either play dumb or just be out of the loop. Sales guy asked where I was getting the discounted price on the car and said they would be able to match that. I would think the price was set but he dealership, no? They just playing games?

It’s turning into a site to drive leads. There is one dealer in Texas that has a 5k fee on top of the advertised price.

Post a pic of the offer, and someone here will be able to tell you if it’s worth pursuing.

If it is, you can then contact the dealer to find out that you don’t qualify for all of the incentives, or the deal as you understand it otherwise isn’t available to you.

Note that very commonly people miss thousands of dollars shown in ad disclosures, which may or may not be the issue.

Post a pic so someone can swoop in on my deal? haha, ok here is the Cadillac.com inventory tool.

It is also confusing why the price changes so much after clicking the button to start the buying process. Updates from $300 a month to $387 but the numbers done change that much.

Do you think that $387 monthly estimate includes tax? It knows my zip code. It doesn’t say one way or the other.

I use it for inventory purposes only pay no attention to the numbers.

Yeah, perfect for inventory tracking. Just would be helpful if a dealer knows what they heck the site even in when I contact them about it.

If this looks better than what you can find in Marketplace, email the screenshot along with a time you’ll be in to sign for that exact amount.

I wouldn’t spend more than 2 minutes on this.

They are an add-ons dealership. Add ons aren’t shown on the Cadillac.com price, so just need to get them to remove the cost for LoJack and paint protections to get it to work out.

Best practice is to ignore dealer ad pricing.

Work up an offer and make the offer (without add-ons), and make it clear you’ll be in to sign in two hours if they accept.

If they want to pack in LoJack and volcano insurance and still meet your price, who cares? All they have to do is adjust for a bigger discount.

If they say no to your offer, move on.

I was trying to lead you to determining what the right price is earlier by referring you to Marketplace. Now I’m trying to be more direct.

It really depends on the dealer. Some numbers on there will never be based in reality and the dealers will try to make you feel dumb for even asking. There’s definitely some dealers though where if you call them up and ask to get it at that online tool’s price, they’ll make it happen.

It’s just a numbers game. Try to get the best deal possible by making offers to lots of dealers and be straight to the point.

I know what you mean about the dealers trying to make me feel like I’m dumb about the Cadillac.com pricing. The first sales guy I spoke with was acting dumb like he didn’t know what the site was, but then tried to say he knew what he was talking about. So either lying or not really knowable about his job. Either way, I was glad I didn’t work with him when I went into the dealership yesterday.

Thanks again for the marketplace direction. I saw three different brokers with 2025 Optiqs listed. I broke down the total cost over 2 years for each of the brokers and then compared that to my local dealer that I ended up getting the car from. It was the dealerships last 2025, so I was hoping they would be just as motivated as the ones the brokers were working with.

For my cost analysis I could have saved a little working with a broker, but I would have had to pay a broker fee plus have the car shipped form Northern California to me in SoCal. Those two costs made the deal less desirable since I would like to see the car and do a walk around and everything to look for damage and things that are there at delivery as I would not want to be on the hoof for damage that was there on delivery.

In the end, I got agreed to $3k due at signing and got a 2yr/10k for $341 a month, before tax. Going to add it to signed forum today and submit the deal. I think I did alright. About $11,533. Cheapest broker option was $10,875 over the same terms, including an estimate of $600 for sipping and their broker fee. So about $650 more over the broker, but I got to work the deal myself and piece of mind for not having to worry about shipping.
