What mid-sized SUVs w/3rd row are leasing well?

I’ve seen GLB250s come close to the $400/mo range. The third row is definitely kids only though.

Gonna say it in everyone of these posts but the Durango has served my family well. I went with a R/T, Styling and horsepower. I love the XC90 but your north of 500 to come close to power that is spirited when driving. Dodge hands down has the best infotainment system, 3rd row folds down to fit the house.

Good intel on Ascent vs Pilot. Keep us posted. Very curious to hear quotes. Need to drive the Subie.

Same—was just going off Youtube reviews for passing power, etc.

Exact same situation here in NorCal. Maybe we can get a package deal on 2 Ascents? Kidding/not kidding.

Testdrove Highlander Hybrid. Like the drive more than expected from past Highlander experience. Has Carplay now, which is nice. Pricing is better than Ascent (I’m in research mode and don’t have detailed negotiated prices worth sharing here yet). It’s a little shorter than the Ascent, which is nice in semi-urban driving. Didn’t like the visibility and handling compared to the Subie.

0-60 and HP figures are very inexact proxies for passing power, which depends a lot on other things like how the transmission is programmed

I’d go with the atlas, but unfortunately, I don’t think the leasing deals are that great. There’s definitely an inventory shortage. There’s also a very minor refresh coming out in a month or two, they are calling it “2021.5”.

Indeed. And C&D (Car and Driver) has obj data for acceleration times for 30-50MPH and 40-60MPH (or something similar).

I appreciate this thread because I’ve been on the hunt for replacing my 2017 QX60 lease and my top two choices XC90 & Atlas are just not falling anywhere near my QX in price. XC90 is my top because it just drives so quick without giving up too much space.

The '21 Atlas didn’t drive as fast or as sporty from my memory of it when I test drove it in '17 but could be in my head. I wanted it bad back then but a) couldn’t find inventory and b) price margin between my QX60 was just too big. Now inventory with Atlas is much better so hopefully numbers get better before I have to pull the trigger in a few weeks.

But some nice options brought up here to start looking into.

I thought 2020 MDX was leasing well too? Still true?

I’m with you on the Durango. We have a 2018 GT with 2nd row captain chairs. Good ride, easiest infotainment screen to use, big trunk space with the 3rd row seats down and the 3rd row isn’t terrible. I’ve sat back there a few times and it isn’t too bad and I‘m 6’1.

Does Benz have something bigger that leases well? I have a 2017 QX60 Lease that’s ending and want something a little faster. I really want the XC90 T6 (a bit smaller, but all space is still usable) but struggling to get it into my price range. Wondering who else has something similarly sized and with same performance assuming I can’t get a XC90 to work

How’s the sizing of the Ascent compared to QX60/Pilot (my upper end of size) and the Xc90 (my lower end of size)? Also for anyone familiar with how the Atlas and QX60 drive, how’s this vehicle’s drive? I want something faster like the Xc90.

I just learned of the ascent from this post for the first time and checked out the site. Seems the touring is what I would want for some of the things mentioned like the captain’s chairs, Navi, and moonroof. I’m def struggling to get the XC90 T6 into my range, and my backup the Atlas SEL Premium is also some ways away too. Maybe I can make it happen with the Ascent if it leases better and has everything I want

With several thousand down you can probably achieve your sub $500 payment . A true zero down lease on any of these based on what I’ve seen would be well over $500

I’d look at an MDX and maybe RX350

What does “lease well” mean in your definition? Search the forum for GLS and see if those deals meet your definition

Otherwise the deceptively sized GLB is almost MDX-sized inside due to the non-sloping roof and vertical D pillar and that leases fairly well

When I say “lease well” I mean maybe just have better pricing all things the same for a lease versus a purchase. An example is the Atlas, which I often seem discussed with a comment these don’t least well, or a certain trim (like the SEL premium I want) dont lease well, etc.

Back in 2017, I wanted the 2018 Atlas bad, but one, I couldn’t find inventory, and second, the Atlas msrp was cheaper than the QX60, but the lease numbers were much worse compared to the QX60. I ultimately went with the QX60.

Also, the comment that I’m replying to is one where the GLB is brought up. This is the first I’m hearing of that car. But the comment specifically says the third row is just for kids only. I do want a usable third row where an adult could sit in a pinch. But maybe GLS works on that so I’ll look into it?

The QX60 was great for sizing in the third row as is the Atlas. But I want something faster this time around. XC90 T6 is ideal but struggling to get this into the 600s in MD

With 6% tax on sales price you’re not getting a GLS in the 600s.

Good new is if the XC90 third row works for you then the GLB might work for you

Yep, here’s a perfect example of “leasing well” vs not:

In November 2018 I was in the market to lease an suv. My two favorite were the Audi Q7 and VW atlas.

Best numbers I got on the Q7 was a $635/mo effective payment. Best on the atlas was only a couple dollars less per month. Big difference was the Audi had a $63k msrp against the atlas’ $44k msrp. You can guess which one I’m driving today.

If I was purchasing a vehicle, atlas would have been an easy choice. It just doesn’t make sense to lease an atlas when Japanese semi-luxury in the same msrp range is leasing in the $400s or for the $600+ payment of the atlas you could be in the Volvo XC90 or an Audi.

We were looking for a similar SUV and we ended up pulling the trigger on a 2021 Atlas SE 4motion 2.0 .
Ended up with nothing down and 363(total with tax) a month with first month paid by the dealer .

I posted details here
