I contacted my dealer to ask if I have to set up an appointment to turn in my lease. (not releasing with them) I told them I can only come this Saturday because I dont have time during week days. Im literally being told that their lease team won’t be at the office this Saturday. How in the hell is that even possible? This isnt a mom and pop dealership. This is a giant Hendrick dealership in Charlotte, NC.
I say just leave the dang thing there on Saturday and tell them to check it whenever they can get there. I’m sure you can have a salesperson or something Verify the car is in good condition.
The infiniti dealership had different hours for lease return inspection. It was very annoying. Probably because a lease return doesn’t really yield them much.
We normally ask for a Monday through Friday drop off as the weekends are crazy but normally will make it happen if that doesn’t work. Might be the same situation.
I’ve been turned away from a huge Honda dealership in NY. Was told they only accept on 3 days of the week because only one woman can do it if we aren’t buying another Honda.
Find another dealer to return too? Doesn’t have to original leasing dealer. If the car is in good condition and lower miles then it should have then there could be a potential for a big gain for the dealer as they have first right to buy the lease turn in from the manufacturer. If that’s not the case then sry man find another dealer or you’ll have to play by their rules.
My local BMW dealer refused to take my lease return as I didn’t originally lease with them. Huge pain in the butt, but I had to return the car out of state (NY > NJ) at a much larger dealer who would accept the car. BMW Corporate doesn’t care about lease return details as long as they get the car back so they were no help either.
Horrible advice btw, he can get screwed big time if something happens to the car without them signing off
OP most makes, have designated service personell responsible for lease returns. Hence they have Monday to Friday timings. Saturdsy is really busy for service as well.
Believe it or not SETF lease returns in florida have to be returned to the dealer u leased the vehicle from. Other dealer wont take it. Whats funny is that if you call setf to complain, they say they will reach out but please just go to original dealer.
What happens when you move out of state, let’s say you move to Georgia which is still in SEFT territory?

I think a more accurate statement would be you’d prefer not to come during the week, since most stores are open till 9. Come during the week it only takes a few minutes. Saturdays are money days and salespeople don’t get paid to do lease returns.
That’s why have someone look at it to cover your butt. But you guys have more experience then me. I can’t even lease the car I drive smh.
I had a great experience with the lease return on a BMW, they had someone at the dealership that actually did the inspection (I just dropped it off there, didn’t buy anything from them and it wasn’t the original dealer). But lease return on a Hyundai was a different story, they have a 3rd party company that comes out and inspects the car then you drop it off at a dealership, but you have to make sure someone signs off on it there otherwise if something happens in the meantime you’re on the hook for it.
Now with my Infiniti it looks like it’s the same process as Hyundai, they don’t have someone who does the physical inspection, it’s a 3rd party, don’t know if it’s an Asian car thing or what.
