The 5th gen was a very good car for it’s time, it was the last Accord that was the same for the US as Europe/Japan. The 6th gen was much more Americanized and RoW had a smaller/tauter version. They just got more bloated from there culminating in the 8th gen Buick (but with worse interior materials). The 10g reminds me a lot more of a 5g than any other Accord in between does.
The ROW had the 1st gen TSX as the Accord, yes? (edit: oops, apparently that was the 7th gen)
The 2nd gen CRX was actually pretty cool. But, even as a pre-teen, I was like, “God, this is a death trap” (esp since my only ride in one was in the “back seat” facing sideways). Light and efficient has its down sides…
I’m hoping the next Civic recaptures some of the Honda elegance and innovation (and simplicity). For me personally, the Accord is way too big. The Civic is perfectly sized, but, as someone in their early 40s, I just can’t w/ the styling of the hatchback. Not fond of the interior, either. The Insight works better stylistically, inside and out, but, having driven a small wagon, it would be hard to go back to a sedan.
I’d love a Honda e but there are probably 30 people in the entire US who will buy one at MSRP, and Honda doesn’t do leases like BMW does with the i3.
