What do you consider acceptable lease amount of your monthly income?

Everyone gets joy from different things, so I never judge. In my case, I know nothing besides an Aston Martin is going to feel like a true step-up for me. I stick with my German brands that offer solid deals, and I’m content. I get more joy out of my family home and taking trips with my kids than I would out of an Aston Martin.

If you have a rental 70% of the time maybe use Turo and get something nicer while doing so. That could def scratch your itch and have a diff car every week. Save for that house. Max out retirements, squash the student loans.

I drive about 3-4k miles a year. Share a $350/mo tundra with the wife. I will get something nicer at some point but I’ll still be sharing the car as we don’t need 2 ever. I also refuse to spend $1000/mo, just a psychological number and means nothing to me really but I just don’t care enough to allocate more to a vehicle I barely drive. If I had a long daily commute I would be in something sick bc I always was a car guy.

$350/mo Tundra… nice! FWIW, I never pay for my rentals, or any other expenses while traveling. Retirement is maxed at combined 12%. And to some extent, I actually already have saved for a house. Involuntarily!

I’m not trying to derail the thread though. Interesting question and I’d love to hear more perspectives. It seems like the forming consensus might be something like, “it depends”.

I gross between $45-$60 k a month. 2 homes, NJ and Fla, both paid for but of course still have expenses. I own my truck. I lease my wifes car mainly because I wouldn’t own any of those brands outside of warranty. Currently a Jaguar E Pace at $625 per month
Thats up soon. Id love to get her into a Greycale but I just cant to bring myself to bring that lease payment up to what would take. Got to be over a grand for 36/12k with $5k. Cap reduction.
Am i being cheap ? Lol
