1995 Audi A6 5 speed - first car, bought on eBay much to my parent’s shock, POS. Owned 1 year and maybe 8k miles, TMU.
1992 Ford Taurus SHO 5 speed - inherited from dad with 297k on the clock, car I learned to drive/drive stick on, died shortly thereafter one too many times after throwing many parts and pulling many codes, some dude on the Bronx took it for $500.
1989 Toyota SR5 extended cab 5 speed - loaned to me by my aunt, had about 230k on it and I drove it for about 6 months before selling it for $3k on her behalf.
1996 Volvo 850 wagon base/auto - 60k miles thing was a tank (solid and slow), had it about 4 months before someone pulled out of a side road in a Suburban right in front of me (totaled). Saved my life.
1999 Audi A4 1.8T Avant 5 speed - 60k on clock, co-purchased with my sister who used it in high school while I was in college; I took it over when going to law school and had it until about 125k when the repair bills were killing me; one of the most fun cars I’ve had though.
image

2006 Nissan Sentra stripper spec - bought at auto auction for 5k to replace the Audi as basic transport during law school, had literally zero options (roll up windows, didn’t even have intermittent wipers…they were just on or off) other than automatic (yuck) - owned from 59k to 120k when I sold it to a guy doing temp work in the states for - you guessed it, $5k…

1999 Lexus RX350 (came by marriage with my wife) - meh; she ended up giving it to her sister and inherited her mom’s 2002 BMW 540i auto - still an amazing car which we had until 110k when we did the “we have our first kid coming we need an SUV!” Thing.

2013 Volvo XC60 loaner - first new car I ever purchased (for my wife) replacing the Bimmer. Sad day but ultimately the right choice at the time. Had it 3 years/36k before trading.

2014 Honda Accord Sport 6 speed - finally back to manuals, second brand new car for me, drove it 70k miles as my commuter over next 6 years.

2016 Volvo XC90 T6 Inscription - trade up for growing family, first “fancy” car - had it 2 years and about 42k miles.

2019 Chrysler Pacifica Limited (current - financed) - turns out minivans ARE more practical than SUVs…traded the XC90 for it. Currently at 45k.

2019 BMW 330i loaner - traded Accord for this, felt like a significant step up for me. Got it at 4K miles, traded at 8k.

2020 BMW M340i - traded 330 for this (my first lease) - stupidly rolled my equity on trade, noob mistake. COVID hit and I don’t need it, dumped on swapalease with 4500 miles on it. Still miss it…

2021 BMW X7 xDrive4.0i (current - leased) - turns out we can’t survive on one car, first car I ever ordered.

2021 Chevy Camaro LT1 6-speed (current - leased) - I missed stick, don’t need this, but it’s fun. Will dump this summer.

Photos from below were a nice touch—adding those I have (either first or last of a given car).

Part of a family of 11 and I was the 6th child so got handed down cars a bunch

1987 Toyota Camry DX passed down

1998 Camry LX handed down

1990 Honda Accord LX Handed down

1992 Acura Legend (first car my father purchased for me) bought at auction for 9000 freshman year of college. Totaled and bought from insurance as a salvaged title, repaired and totaled again by my brother

1996 Toyota 4 runner (? sr5)

1998 WV Jetta (handed down)

2002 Honda Accord handed down from My sister.kept it through grad school and training for a total of 7 years and 250k miles.

2012 Honda Civic first car I bought my wife and we used this after we had our first kid. 2 years later bought my wife a brand new RDX (first brand new purchase) and took the civic when my accord died.

RDX was turning into a lemon however we were outside the state lemon laws (>12 months and mileage). We traded this in and had our first lease, a 2017 GLE for the wife.

My first lease was a 2018 7 series and instead of selling my civic or trading it in, we gave it as a gift to our nephew whose car was totaled by an uninsured motorist. He proceeded total the civic a few months later.

2021 x5 in production now.

I loved this thread and could go on with my emotional attachment to each vehicle or anger towards some or the stories in them.

Edit: forgot to add My COViD 19- 2020 Silverado lease. After discussions got nowhere (thankfully) on a 2020 GLS 450 lease we decided to abandon the car and got myself a truck. Wife and kids stayed home for covid and the savings is going to be about 30k in total as my wife soured on the car after failing to find the right combo and me failing to find a dealer who wasn’t selling the car for thousands over msrp after correcting for MF and fees.

My favorite cars will always be the Acura legend as it was my true first car, the Honda Civic as I paid for that myself and my truck, it doesn’t have any fancy options but it’s so practical.

I feel like I’m one of the few active users/brokers on here who still has the same car almost 2 years later (and only one car).

Yea true, kinda added up quick between burning through crap cars in the high school/college days and then when you add a S.O. to the mix you double the cars. Just wait until I have driving age kids!

Also fun to see color progression - lots of black turning to gray and then ORANGE!

It’s like you got the cognac interior and then decided to bring it outside (and brighter).

I can only imagine when your kids start driving. You’re going to have over 10 cars at your house! Hahaha. At least you have a while to go before any of them are old enough to drive!
