Is that sour dough for the french toast? :eyes:

I was reflexively going to say no, but since you asked I checked…

This was an impulse / convenience purchase as I was already at ALDI for a couple of specific things, and didn’t want to make another stop just for bread.

Croutons…before the oven?

Second one is after. I like them slightly chewy at the center-most point, so they don’t just shatter when you bite into them.

Needs fresh Parmesan and chili flakes. Noodles look awesome

Added those at the table.

And a little chopped parsley for color.

The apples came out a bit tart, but that’s nothing a little dollop of sweetened whipped cream can’t fix.

Creamy roasted cauliflower soup.

This is one of the best soups I’ve ever made.

This started from a head of cauliflower the size of a bowling ball, from my parents’ garden.

I used a potato masher on the roasted (then boiled) cauliflower for a more rustic texture.

Recipe

Improvisations:

  • Extra cup of chicken broth in lieu of one cup of water
  • Added about a teaspoon of chicken bouillon powder for even more chicken-y depth
  • Added some double-cut crushed red pepper flakes for some subtle heat
  • Used then discarded a muslin spice bag for the bay leaf and thyme so I didn’t have to fish out the leaf at the end or encounter thyme leaves in the finished product.
