Nah, really depends on the car and, most importantly, the dealer. My loaners were all restored to a near new condition. No curb rash and definitely nothing that would be chargeable. Otherwise, ask for a deeper discount or no deal!
You do have to mind the tire wear, especially on EVs. Bottom line: you can score a spectacular deal on a loaner with some patience, skill and luck.
Do you only rent after @li8625ās wife? None of my BMW or Benz loaners have been anywhere near rent-a-car levels. Dealers will generally get you for damages to their cars, rent-a-car, not so much unless really obvious.
Iāll need one of the LH brokers to chime in, but Iāve never heard of a loaner lease restoring a car to like new. Maybe a cracked front lower valence would get replaced, but dings, nicks, and light damage such as curb rash just goes out the door as is with a disclosure the damage was pre-existing to the lease origination.
Why am I getting killed here?!?!? Thereās some very famous LHers that have had some mindbending crashes lol
Youāre so powerful your cars crash before you get them.
Why crash your cars when you can get them precrashed?
People need to realize that if they want a good deal, they need to compromise on something, if you donāt wanna compromise, then you can fork out the cash for it
Are you basing your judgement on loaners currently in service or the ones for sale? Huuuge difference!
Fun fact: my wifeās 530e was perfectly fine⦠and then it got chipped on the hood on the drive home. Itās essentially a longer term rental, treat it as such.
I leased a demo i7 recently and the dealer fixed all the curb rash and put a new windshield. However, there are still small scratches that are visible on the car in random spots.
Iāve never bothered inspecting a demo for scratches & such because I never keep them to term anyways
Thereās a better way, lol. I always deal with a manager and ask them to send a floor monkey to inspect the car. The lazy bastards always come back saying the car is perfect⦠which puts the manager in an awkward position when/if I find those little imperfections. Ask nicely and they wonāt say no at that point.
Brokers do volume, we (usually) do one car at a time. Youāre in full control of the deal. I can see why some brokers prefer not to deal with loaners at all unless they can rely on their dealer for just about everything.
I just leased a Cadillac XT6 demo with 3500 miles and there is no sign of use and I got 8% off MSRP plus $7k of incentives. Very pleased
Every time we get a service loaner, itās in like new condition. They make you inspect it before you get in and after. It makes me paranoid to drive it. I was going to take one on a weekend trip and decided against it, didnāt want to pay for any damage.
And it wasnāt a EQB???
Which brand? Itās been a long time since I had an MB, but, when I did, the last few service loaners came w/ a stipulation that you couldnāt go above X miles (presumably to prevent people from taking them on weekend trips).
Loaners vs. demos. Discuss.
Seriously though, Ive received i7 and i5 loaners from my local BMW shop and they donāt even vacuum the things between ārentalsā
Also, in my M60 demo there was no visible damage anywhere on the vehicle. Perhaps it was driven by a top salesperson or shop owner, not a loaner to customers.
One has manufacturer subsidy (typically after a minimum use period) one doesnāt.
Sup?
BMW and Toyota both had enough miles per day for a two day trip to central Ca fro LA. I had the loaner on both occasions for 4 or 5 days, so enough miles.
Besides this forum, are there any other websites out there that can list out what demos/loaners are available?
