Was This Finally “Peak Insanity” in Used Vehicle Prices? And all other crystal ball questions

I got you beat… this Maserati depreciated so fast it didn’t even leave the dealer lot yet! 600+ days!

The reliability may have actually gone up with the lot rot.

Somebody wanted $800 monthlies on a Maserati? I bet they’d be able to get that if they tried to score this thing now. The inventory carrying costs on a car that is almost 2 years aged is massive.

Except you can’t lease a 2022 anymore

But you can buy a busted-azz 2022 for peanuts. Let’s be real, that car isn’t new any more. Used 2022 Ghibli’s shouldn’t cost more than $60k.

Offer $60k cash right now to take the keys and the lot rot off their hands. See what happens?

No one on this website is going to buy a new Ghibli even at 60k

Lol so then you’re talking $800 monthlies (on a purchase) over 72 months heh.

Someone bought a used s560 and is paying 7.49% interest on it so never say never

I like folks who buy Maseratis:

  1. They emphasize the connection with ferrari
  2. They believe their model is super rare just like a ferrari
  3. They got it for a “steal” and like the attention they get but not too much of say a ferrari owner.
  4. Ignore that some of their infotainment and interior bits are running some sort of skinned U connect from a Dodge Journey parts bin

And you’d better hope you remembered your USB-A charging cord because USB-C is too much to ask for in a new $100k MSRP Levante.

Ferrari California also used the U Connect junk (reskinned unit from Harmon I believe). The prancing horse on the screen is probably $3,000 just like the cost for the stitching on the leather…

We should make an off-ramp thread where people post depressing features of cars, and folks guess what is make/model/depressing.

The thread could be called “peak depression and poop balls”

I’ll start with:

Jeep is running a special:

8.16% APR for 60 months on select 2024 JEEP Compass

I assume they’re offering free GAP on those loans, since those things will be under water the minute the wheels hit the road?

Wow, I don’t see that offer. But this offer may be worse. Pay $21k (before taxes and title) for the privilege of driving a mileage-restricted Compass for 42 months! Maybe Eric will get rid of his Porsche and go for this instead. Since he’s not average.

You could make it a 24 month loan they’d still be underwater

I wouldn’t drive a compass for free.

For free, I’d get a compass. But seriously that car is doing terrible with a 190+ day supply and this “offer” is terrible.

God that is a hideous interior. Between this and their attempts to replicate modern f1 steering wheels, lots of misses interior wise
