Was This Finally “Peak Insanity” in Used Vehicle Prices? And all other crystal ball questions

is ACC and dynamic cruise control the same? If so, then it is standard on the 7 series for 2023 :grinning:

I need to borrow the dictionary you’re using because my dictionary’s definitions of “no value” and “worthless” seem to be very wrong.

Yes! Anyone who has spec’d one knows far too well. Go build a 911 once on the configurator. First of all, it takes me hours to decide which options are preferred…and that’s without even factoring in the price/value relation.

I think dynamic cruise control is just regular cruise control…

For adaptive you have to select a driver assistance package or whatever it called

It’s legit embarrassing. Let me pay to have power seats on my 100k car which is effectively a go kart as standard. It makes me not want one on principle alone.

I get the whole gimmick about putting all the money into driving experience but at that price point you need basic stuff that Porsche doesn’t provide. Clearly hasn’t hurt their biz or demand. Not for me though.

Yea in BMW-speak, “Dynamic Cruise Control” is not adaptive cruise control. It’s just the regular cruise control feature and the ‘dynamic’ just means that when the car is going downhill and cruise control is set, the car will automatically apply the brakes so as to not exceed the set speed.

Edit: And yea totally ridiculous that a 7-series doesn’t have ACC standard when it’s standard on a base Camry these days.

Yeah I get “everything has to be optioned” on 911s and I actually prefer that for those cars…

But on a BMW sedan or crossover which close to or above 100k and doesn’t have acc standard,it’s just ridiculous to me…
And that’s coming from me ,who had several bmws in the household…

Even if ACC came standard in BMWs would it matter? it only works in under 40 mph conditions, how often would one use that? From experience with Tesla self driving in traffic, its very jerky so usually have to turn it off after 5-10 min either way.

Applying the brakes on the highway, like a typical bmw driver. It’s perfect

I think it’s because most BMW drivers get the car to drive it themselves, they probably won’t use ACC.

Having driven many times on the Autobahn in Germany, I would never want cruise control there…especially adaptive cruise control which I find scary at 75 MPH here in LA.

At 120, I’d soil my pants.

Germans always took driving very seriously…one reason they took forever to put cupholders in the cars!

Thanks for the insight, this is useful. Any idea if sales were down because the stores didn’t have inventory or is it the softening economy and buyers aren’t shopping the luxury brands. Could be both, but still interesting nonetheless. If the supply chain picks up, we might see some deals by end of year.

Part of it has to be the current terrible lease numbers. Most cases you are now better off purchasing than leasing. The paycheck to paycheck pretenders simply don’t have the disposable income to put down $20k and actually purchase the car.

Preach that “cash flow” gospel

They live paycheck to paycheck despite making 150k+. Oh well partying helps their mental health

I have an XC90 coming off lease. Don’t want to lease another Volvo. If I purchase it to sell it would be a wash due to taxes. Sucks. Any advice?

Local Audi dealer sent out an email blast offering $2,500 off new Q5s.

This is on top of their email last month that listed their inventory with “will sell fast” and “hurry!” bubbles all over the pics.

Their lot has been getting denser and denser with new inventory…I think this is only going to continue.
