I’m about to turn in a 2015 GTI and the clearcoat on the roof in front of the sunroof worn through. Sun damage really got to the clearcoat it seems. This is a 48 month lease so I am worried the warranty is out. Will this be considered excessive wear and I will need to pay for it?
The B2B warranty ship has sailed. When did you notice this and why are you waiting until lease end to deal with it? Where are you located?
I’d take it into a dealer and have them open a case with VWoA. Seems crazy you’d be having paint issues in this new of a car…
I didnt notice it until recently. I have to return the vehicle in 3 weeks. Guess I will take it in and see what they say.
Any chance corrosion warranty would take care of it? – OP didn’t specifically mention if any rust spots showing but it could be a way in.
Request a short inspector
And never lease past B2B… (again)
I’m not sure. The clearcoat on the roof is worn through all around the sunroof. Is sunlight damage considered corrosion? Should I take it in to VW before the turn in date to address it?
Yes, as I said before, you should take it to a dealer and let them look at it. Even if they can’t make a warranty decision, they can open a case with VW to see if they can repair it.
