I really hate 39 month leases, especially when the mfg warranty ends after 36 months.
You should have some compelling reason to choose a 39 month lease over a 36 month lease.
A few points to keep in mind: 1. The big one you noted, you will pay a full years registration fee ($300-ish) at the end of month 36 and only keep the car for 3 more months. 2. The longer you keep the car the more likely you will need to replace tires (4/32" tread life needed) and replace brakes. 3. I think VW has a 4 year warranty (you need to confirm) so you should still be under warranty (most cars have 36 months).
36 month should only be about $3 more… no reason to do 39 month
