Volvo XC90 T8 ABA drama

possible, but unlikely. that’s up to aplan’s discretion to validate that pin.

We finally agree on something lol
But they made a mess out of it for sure.

When you say chargeback - do you mean that they can come back after the deal is done and I have the car, they can come back and say the pin wasn’t valid and look for $2k from me?

from the dealer who claimed it. whether or not the dealer chooses to ask you is their call.

Well I imagine the dealer can ask but….

I can’t imagine I’d be on the hook to pay that after the deal has been signed?

  1. There is nothing illegitimate with pins redeemed before rules change. Implying otherwise is fear-mongering. But at this point is a mere theoretical discussion.
  2. It’s still might be possible to find a layer or paralegal in your personal network. Good chance they will be an ABA member.
  3. If you are a layer or paralegal planning a Volvo purchase some time in 2025 - get ABA membership now.

I contacted APlan and they told me I had to go in to validate a new PIN. I just responded and asked them to please help since I clearly met the qualification guidelines when my Pin was originally generated… Waiting to hear back from them… crossing fingers

ABA’s website say - “Active lawyer members can also sponsor up to three family members or friends per year to extend their membership discount on their purchase or lease of a new Volvo.”

Can anyone confirm this is working? I have a family friend who’s been an ABA member for years and is willing to share a pin with me.

Thanks

I believe someone in the Signed deals & tips section of the forum stated they had gotten a PIN from one of their lawyer friends who had been an ABA member for years. As long as your family friend meets the 90 day requirement, I don’t see why this shouldn’t work.

Are you in negotiations with a dealer on a particular car? If yes, then you better move fast if you plan to close the deal before the end of the month.

Yes, hoping to finalize the deal in the next couple days. :crossed_fingers:t4:

I can confirm this works just fine.

If someone has been a member of the ABA for 90 + days as of last week, they can still sponsor 3 pins.

Confirmed yesterday

So, you are saying anyone can hire any ABA member lawyer, pay lawyer’s hourly rate for one hour and have ABA pin generated?

This is true. My car was in transit and would arrive until 11/22 and planned to pick it up until 11/25 so we were just waiting after agreeing on numbers and making deposit first week of November. Dealership called me on 11/20 urging me to share my PIN to validate it, together with proof of 90 days membership, warned me that things would change next day. I provided both and he said he validated the PIN and that we were good to go. With all the noise going on I decided to not wait any longer and went to pick it up on 11/23. Everything was okay. After reading these posts sounds to me that having it validated on 11/20 saved my PIN. If this is the case, my dealership was kind enough and honest to help me on this one, because I can see many dealerships regretting making these deals and finding excuses to back off.

I know a lot of lawyers. I don’t know a single one of them to be an ABA member. It’s useless

Unless you want a Volvo……in 90 days. Maybe.

If you have a doctor or dentist friend/family they are AMA or ADA member they can share the pin. Same discount as ABA

I live in a rural area with a lot of farms/farmers. Wished Volvo had a deal with the National Farmer’s Union (NFU).:joy:
