Volvo XC90 plugin hybrid T8. 24 month lease expiring on December. Advice needed

what is that $7500 EV credit story ? Is it applicable for PHEV . Could you please add some details. I thought it ended in September.

If I extend also , it will be2026. Will be difficult to find best deals than December. If they can extend one more year, I would take it

I didn’t read any of that. I’m only here to say do not buy out that vehicle. That is all.

I’ll take it back. I saw it on EVs (EX90, etc.)

Yes, the government stopped providing $7500 in federal subsidy (that was being passed through as a lease rebate by most OEMs on qualified electrified options.) However, as @Ursus pointed out, some manufacturers are still providing >= $7500 in EV rebates from their own pockets, as they need to move metal. Volvo has a few, KIA EV9, etc.

In any case, OP. If you’re narrowing your search to 3 Row PHEVs within the next two months, your options will be slim. You’d have to hope XC90 or Mazda CX90 programs improve. Otherwise, consider expanding your requirements to non hybrid, full EV, or diff vehicle segment.

I am also seeing ads of Hyundai palisade hybrid. Looks good. Yet to see their lease numbers

You can sign up as a super supporter to access lease programs. Id be surprised if they were leasing well enough to make sense over a purchase.

After returning the car to dealership, can I purchase the car from the dealership in lesser price than payoff price ? Is it possible? The car is in excellent condition so I would like to get it if that is an option?

Not an option.

Then what is dealer going to do with that vehicle? Will they be able to sell it at higher price ? If they are not able to sell it at higher price, I can negotiate like a new customer. Isn’t that an option?

They will send it to auction, it’s not their car. If they buy it, why would they sell it to you at a loss?
