They are different seats, the inscription seats actually have have an inscription logo on the headrest. My point is you can get the multifunction seat and the same quality leather as the inscription. I don’t know if it would be perforated leather because it won’t have the seat a/c function.
Would you say that the upgraded Momentum seats with the thigh extender are an upgrade over the standard seats?
@ephemere@DNJA first of all thanks for the insights guys
I now understand that there are these seat options
Momentum T5 - standard seat leatherette with option to upgrade to standard seat leather
Momentum T6 - standard seat leather with option to upgrade to Nappa leather contour seat wit thigh extender
Inscription and excellence - perforated Nappa leather with thigh extender and inscription embossed into headrest
The one thing that continues to confuse me - and that for me is the crucial issue is this…
Is the upgraded “Nappa leather contour seat” on the T6 Momentum the exact same shape as the inscription seat just without the perforation and the embossing?
If so that would be fine with me and represents a chance for a HUGE saving given there is a 3% difference in residual and a $3.5k difference in MSRP even after the seat upgrade cost
I would have to live without the gorgeous walnut wood but I don’t think I can stomach paying ~$100 a month for the walnut!
Did you do the math with a lower configured Inscription vs. a higher optioned Momentum? I’m pretty sure either The MF or RV is lower on the inscription and helps brings it closer than $100, maybe?
Also, you should check to see if you can actually find a Momentum with the upgraded seat option? I haven’t seen it on the S90 only the XC90. So might want to make sure the car you actually want is there before you keep going through all this.
@StevefordIII I wish I had paid more attention at the dealer. My wife and I sat in all three seats, but only drove in the Inscription seats. We only briefly sat in and adjusted the other two.
I am pretty sure that the upgraded (nappa leather) Momentum seats are a different shape from the Inscription seats. First of all, the Inscription seats have a power side-bolster adjustment, while the upgraded Momentum seats have fixed side bolsters. But I think the side bolsters on the Momentum are more substantial than the base seats (see Volvo’s pictures). Also, if I recall correctly, the thigh extension on the upgraded Momentum seats is a different design from the Inscription seats. It looks different and feels different.
From the pictures, it looks as if the upgraded Momentum seat has more in common with the R-Design than the Inscription.
See XC90 seat pictures for screenshots from Volvo’s site. In order, the seats are: standard Momentum, upgraded Momentum, R-Design, Inscription. You’ll see that the outer two have similar shapes, and the inner two (upgraded Momentum and R-Design) have similar shapes with more substantial bolstering.
With an MSRP of 61k & final sale price post incentive of 53,120 with 10 MSDs, acq fee 695 (upfront) at base mf of .00120 and 57% residual with 9% sales tax, I got you around 623/month. You’re in striking distance but you’ll get a better deal if you go with a Momentum trim. Higher residual factor will get you under 600 with the same perimeters above.
The Volvo provides a lot of options and tech as part of the standard package and a host of safety features that you would normally have to piece meal with the X5 or any BMW. You’ll see some reliability and sw bugs in 2016 and early 2017 models but when I test drove the XC 90 and X5 back to back I really enjoyed the ride.
So after sitting in all three seats I can confirm that the upgraded seat on the Momentum is the same shape seat as the r design but wrapped in leather
Very sporty feel and very big side bolsters that really wrap around you
Not really my thing.
Honestly I thought the basic momentum seat was the most comfortable so I’m going to go Momentum now despite the fact that means I can’t get the gorgeous walnut wood
I’ve engaged @Benedetto to help me find the best deal after seeing lots of positive reviews on this site
My goal is to get a Momentum with as close to zero features as possible - ideally a T8.
