I recently received a call from a VW manager form the dealership I leased my car from. I currently have 8 payments left and he said their interesting in making the remaining payments in order to add it to their preowned inventory. He said the reasoning is that buying out leases is cheaper for them than buying the cars from auction. They are also doing this to maintain “Championship level as a dealership”. I was very specific and asked if I would have to lease a new VW and he said no.
I asked him so I can bring my car in and if it is one you’d like to buy I could drop the car off and walk away no money out of pocket without having to lease a new VW, he said yes.
Does anyone know if this is just a gimmick to get me INTO a dealership? Is this a known program/offer that anyone had taken advantage of before? Any VW dealers who can chime in and report if this makes sense?
