US Treasury investigates $74M in Improper EV Tax Credits

“ Investigators found that the IRS lacks an effective process to identify and prevent erroneous claims for the EV credit, which tops out at $7,500 and is intended to offset the cost of purchasing a plug-in electric vehicle.”

IRS doing yeoman’s work as usual. This should have been caught on the tax returns.

And this in a nutshell is why I’m glad I leased. I do not want to be dealing with the inevitable audit that will follow here.

It’s only about 10,000 crooks who mis-filed. Most are probably wealthy and will gladly pay a penalty to not get further audited. The IRS will easily recoup 100 M out of this…
