Can we get an official link showing where this is found? Because some dealers don’t know about it and it’s hard to get them to look.

Or is this region specific? How to find out more about this?

What if you don’t already have a qualifying uber car though? Can you be an ACTIVE status uber driver prior to buying/leasing the car?

No, you need to go through an Uber inspection with a qualifying car and pay about $50 for the inspection. Only after the inspection you will be granted an active driver status.

Email the dealers, that is what I did. Finally had one dealer pull the info that I posted and then I had another dealer confirm this.

Yeah that’s what I’m doing however this one dealer I really want the deal with (because price is lowest) says that he hasn’t heard of this incentive. I pasted the info shown here and he said “oh that’s for another region”. What can I say?

Is Volkswagen or Chevy on the uber program or is it just toyota?

So it’s a catch 22 if you’re actually buying a car to use specifically for Uber.

I pressed the dealers and they said exactly the same thing (haven’t heard about it but I’ll check). Then they come back saying that had to dig around for the info but finally had confirmation from Toyota corporate. If your dealers are not cooperating then work the Uber angle, sign up to be a driver and then talk to Uber customer service about their new car incentives…

No, not necessarily. You are signing up for Uber with your current car and it is your current car that is needed for the inspection. After your inspection you are granted an active driver status but it doesn’t mean that you have to actively drive people around with your current or new car. It takes 15 minutes and $50 to qualify for a $750 rebate, there is no catch…

Is the Uber inspection a new requirement? [I only ask because it wasn’t a requirement in the spring when I signed up to try and get a discount on a new vehicle]

I don’t know if it is new or not but when my family member (whom I am helping with this Toyota lease) downloaded the app and tried to sign up, the vehicle inspection portion was the last step she had to complete to get active driver status. Plus they do a simple background check using your social security number.

I know it is still valid for Hyundai, see the conditional offers in the listing below:

Check with the VW and Chevy dealers to see if they still have it, originally they had it:

Well the catch is you have to currently have a car that qualifies. If you have say, a 2 Door car, and/or a car older than 2008 and looking into getting new a car for Uber you’re out of luck.

Yes, you are correct. You also need valid insurance and registration for your current qualifying car and pass their background check.

That being said there could be an option to sign up for being a driver without currently owning a car. You might want to download the app and investigate.

No luck, the Socal Toyota dealers are denying the uber discount saying “never heard of it”.

that’s for getting a car through uber, though right? I don’t plan to actually drive for uber… I just signed up for this rebate which apparently is impossible to get

We have just used the Uber discount today in Colorado. They just wanted to see an active status on the driver profile page. Honestly I don’t think this is a regional promotion (Uber wants drivers in Colorado but not in SoCal?) and there is nothing in the fine print of the original incentive document I have posted. Our Uber profile page does not have any region info plus the page they asked us to sign in at the dealership to prove the active status was not a region specific one either.

Thanks for that info.

I see you posted some text - did you post a document somewhere?

No, I have only received the text in email from the dealer. While signing the papers at the dealer there was an Uber incentive document we signed but it was dealer’s copy to keep…
