Tv hacking 85-100”

Cheater lol

Ha I have never heard of that. Had to google it

I used to buy those gold star blank vhs tapes at bjs in bulk in middle school and copy tapes from west coast video using 2 vcrs. I thought I was a tech genius doing it back then, highly illegal I’m sure. I didn’t know gold star was LG cool fact

I’m moving into a high rise with large windows. I was walking by Best Buy and decided to look at current TV options. The rep was probably the most knowledgeable sales rep I’ve ever spoken to about any product. He’s been selling TVs and home theater systems for 20 years, previously at a high end AV store. As someone else pointed out, if you ask 10 different people, you’ll get 10 different answers. If there was a TV nerd club, this guy would be the president.

His summary is that OLED had the best resolution but QLED works best in bright environments. My new condo has massive windows so QLED sounds like the best option. I looked at some larger QLED screens and they were impressive.

Went home and looked at Costco online. They currently have a promo on certain direct ship products where you save an additional $100 off the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th items.

I ended up buying:
100 inch Hisense QLED for $1600 including install
Four 55 inch TCL QLED for $149 each ($249 less $100 promo

I was originally only going to replace the main living room TV. But $149 for a 55 inch QLED is crazy.

Previously, my only concern was whether 100 inches would be too big for the living room. Now I’m also concerned whether the TV will fit in the elevator. :flushed:

Resolution is the same on both. Where OLED shines is better contrast, much deeper blacks since an OLED panel generates true black by keeping those pixels turned off.

Just ordered a 77" B4 OLED from LG Partner Store
$1439.99 for the TV
Free Soundbar
Free Delivery + Installation
Free Wall Mount
Cap One Shopping Rebate - $250
AMEX 4% Cash back - $60.00

Net Cost $1130 not including tax

You did pretty much what I did. But the Hisense was 2” too big to get in the freight elevator so Costco just took it back and I went with mini led 98” tcl from nearby for 2000

It’s not great with viewing angles but I rarely watch tv while in the kitchen from the side so doesn’t bother me. Everything else about it is great. I’m sure you’ll like the Hisense. Unless you’re super picky these TVs are fine for everyday viewing. No need to spend $5000+

They will take it out of the box if needed also in your elevator. The actual size of the tv is about 90” wide. The box is prob 105” or so

The 98” tcl I didn’t need to take out of the box. I didn’t ask them to take the Hisense out bc I didn’t think of it so that prob would have fit. End of the day it all worked out and I got free mounting which is a must on these TVs. I’d never want to mount this myself. They’re like 150 lbs

If looking for long term reliability like a Lexus, I would recommend Sonia Bravia any day. Its a shame Sharp has been killed, they used to have great reliability at a lesser cost then Sony.
My luck with Samsung tv’s hasn’t been the greatest.

I just feel like these drop in price so fast. The 100” Bravia is anywhere from 5-9k. I don’t see the value. For an 85 you can get the xl90 for like $1700 which is a solid buy. The Bravia 9 is like 4k for 85”.

I’d rather keep this for a couple years and sell it to whoever moves into my unit when I leave for a grand and get a new one.

100” TVs were like 5k to start 3 years ago. Now they can be under 2

Makes sense. I noticed in the Bravia, the pricing spread increases significantly once you go above 75 inches.

Just checked the 85 is 1599 at Costco. That’s a killer deal

100” tv is almost 30% larger in area than an 85. It’s a huge diff so makes sense that the pricing jumps a lot

I’m about to donate all of my old TVs. My understanding is that even cheap Hisense QLEDs today are better than 7-10 year old Sony XBRs that are LED. Is that correct?

I haven’t bought a new tv in like 7 years. My rentals were all furnished when I moved to Florida. The pricing is so cheap and they’re so much better now. Basically another disposable consumer good. My bedroom tv is a 55” and it was $150 new at Costco with their extra $100 off promo. It was def better then my TVs I had 7-10 years ago

If your picky then a good 55-75 is like 2-3k but the difference in picture vs what you spend makes no sense to me. I don’t need the best. Also depends on how you watch stuff. Streaming services the picture can only be so good depending on what you pay. If you have blurays then you can have theater quality but I didn’t even know people buy those anymore. I stream everything and my $2000 100” tv is all I need. That same tv in a 65 is like $650

Correct. The new Sony led is crazy good though (upcoming). I would honestly go with a lg c4 they have no issues lasting 5-7 years

From what I read from researching, everything highend but Sony has lemons. Lg Samsung etc. lots of horror stories. That’s why I went with China brands with some bootleg components. Could buy a second once if it breaks and still be ahead
