I am just wondering if the discount certificates issued by Truecar would be honored by the dealer for a lease instead of a purchase? Anybody have experience?

No, not really. Different incentives or buy vs lease.
Use TrueCar as a benchmark for sales price, you can often negotiate better on your own. I don’t think rebates are automatically applied in their prices you select them.
