Trading Infiniti Q50 for qx50 super early on in lease... what am I looking at here?

I know this sounds stupid, and actually I know it’s stupid. But is it even realistic to entertain the idea of contacting my dealership, and trying to work a deal to trade my 7 month old q50 for a qx50? Would they just laugh me out of the building?

I like the car, but I would like an suv and I knew better. I believe I owe about $32,900 on the 2018 Q50 Sport and it has under 4K miles at the moment. I’ve looked at values for my car and they’re right around what I owe. Is this something I should learn my lesson from, or do I have a chance to not completely lose my ass on a deal?

Thanks guys

Try carvana/vroom and see what they’ll offer to buy it for vs payoff.

I’ll look into that. Thank you

I don’t see why the dealership would laugh at you, they want your business. It’s not them losing money. Be careful what you see online for your car’s value, unless you’re looking at trade-in value. As mentioned, carmax/carvana/vroom are better indicators.

Try carmax.

No matter what. KEEP TRANSACTIONS SEPARATE

Sell and lease from separate, disinterested parties.

I’ve gotten my values by looking at what dealers are asking for similar vehicles and subtracting about 15 percent. Kbb trade in value is about $34k but I don’t trust that really. I’d like to stay in house with Infiniti and get the suv, so I think it would be hard to keep that separate. I guess I’ll just reach out to the guy who sold me my car and ask.

Sell to carmax or one of its ilk.

Then lease another infiniti. It’s really easy.

If you bring a car to and lease a car from the same place—you’ll get ripped off. Full stop.

Yeah I’m thinking I’ll check carmax first. Don’t have any of the others where I live. Thanks

Keep both transactions seperate. Get rid of the first one first.

Btw, hope u have test driven the QX50. You are trying to go from a v6 Turbo to 4 cylinder turbo. I don’t know about you, but for me thats almost impossible to switch.

I agree its better to keep the transactions separate in nearly every case. But I still run the numbers with the dealer…

When I picked up my S90 last year, I brought in my '17 civic. Volvo accepted the highest “sell now kbb” value I printed out, and I actually made out ahead because the taxes offset the taxes on the new lease (a WA state thing). Even better $ than if I had sold privately, and not mention the crazy hassle of dealing craigslist.

RWD or AWD (for the Q50)? Where are you located?

Awd. Located in Portland Oregon.

If they offered a v6 on the QX50 it would be an almost perfect ride.

Edit: I thought I was replying to another similar thread. Yes the OP i
