Toyota - Personal Property Tax Question

I know not all states charge Personal Property Taxes but I live in MO and they do… My question is as followed…

We have had a 36M lease on a Toyota Avalon that we just turned back in, late Sept. In the prior years, personal property taxes has been billed to TFS and they send me a bill for the amount they paid… This year, we are coming up on Personal Property Tax time, and unsure what to expect.

We owned the car part of the year of course, but did not own the car when bill was created (we haven’t been sent a bill, as this goes straight to TFS but have seen where it was sent online) and I was told that TFS has 30 days to bill you for fees after the account is closed. We are past that timeframe. So just wondering what to expect, will we pay the property taxes for this year? Will we only have to pay for the portion of the year we owned the vehicle? Or will we not be responsible for the property taxes since the account was closed more than 30 days prior to the tax bill being due?

I am not gonna be upset either way, and will happily pay it if it comes… In fact, I planned too… But more so trying to figure out what to expect.

I would expect them to send you a bill, since you can bet your county is going to send one to them. Check on the personal property tax site to see if there is a bill, and then keep checking back to see if they pay it or not.
